This is what Capitalism is all about... He has the money - he chooses to spend some of it collecting cars - and in this case - the money ended up going to charity.
Big Deal! The point was he is a billionaire from a humble start. Nice guy (from my observation of his TV show.) Why Nit pick! Yep I removed Chevy from car dealerships. He's buying Chevy Dealerships every year so who knows!

Oh, I don’t know. Facts are still important to some.
BUT was making the point that he went from having very little to a billionaire not just some rich guy. His life has centered on cars and Corvettes. I equate him similar to Richard Petty who we sponsored for >15 years starting when he was still driving, mostly through a number of driver's in the '43 car.
Great guy, was in Level Cross many times when my folks were training on welding and cutting the equipment we donated as part of that sponsorship. Spent my time with Dale Inman his cousin, and team manager at the time. Great guy and I'm sure he called Richard every time I was there as he walked the 1/4 mile from his home to the race shop to say hello.
Yep I think of the great NASCAR folks who are from the Carolinas. Down to earth nice folks. Recall when we bought a my wife's Honda, Cale Yarborough, who own's the dealership in town and comes from the one adjacent, came to talk and thank us!
This is a pic from one of my >50 "How Too" PDF's. Met many wealthy folks but none as down to earth and nice guys as the Petty folks and what Hendrick appears to be!
This is video with clips from a Tech Segment that showed during a Charlotte NASCAR race. (PS, not a YouTuber. Don't allow ads for the ~25 video's I made for my business, which this is not one nor is it related.)
@JerryU - you won’t find too many folks in the NASCAR community who aren’t good people. I’ve been fortunate enough through the years to get in the garage before and during races. I’ve met a lot of drivers, crew chiefs, and car owners. I almost made Richard Petty late to a driver’s meeting once because he wanted to stop and talk when I asked him for an autograph! My best experience was when I had to go pick up Dale Jarrett from Midway Airport in Chicago and take him to a employee event when my company was the primary sponsor for his car. I spent thirty minutes each way to and from the airport with him and we had a great conversation both ways.

Thought talking about Rick Hendrick being a car/corvette guy was relevant. He's not just some "rich guy" buying a multimillion-dollar car for investment or because he's a sports star and has the money.
Although they mentioned Hendrick had a representative bidding, at the end his name was just mentioned quickly in passing.
But why not post what you thought was so important about it going for 3.6 million to bring it "back on track!."
I thought they said it was coming in 70th Anniversary Colors, Package etc.?
The Anniversary colors are pearl white with silver stripes or carbon flash metallic with matte black stripes. Since all of Hendrick's number one Vettes are black, IF he opts for the Anniversary edition, his will most likely be the carbon metallic. If not, then I'm betting it will be another black one. Wonder who he was bidding against.
More importantly, will his dealers add $13k with of paint film, nitrogen, ceramic coat, and wheel/tire insurance upon delivery?
Only if he specs it through his Duluth, GA dealership. There are other Hendrick dealers selling at MSRP. Since he will use MSRP to determine his tax deduction, I would bet that he will go to one of his MSRP dealerships to order it.

My understanding was the highest bidder was only bidding on VIN #001 and there weren't any other restrictions on it.
