I use Android Auto to navigate to places I don't know.
But the built in Navigation has a great feature that makes it stand out: one of the HUD settings displays speed and speed LIMIT. It gets the speed limit data from the in-car Nav system.
That speed limit indicator is a must have for me.
That said - I think its BS to pay for in-car Nav system map updates in this day and age. Legacy dinosaur holdover cash grab likely because GM is banking on older ownership.
Paying for map updates is highly irritating. What's even more irritating is paying for map updates that are at least a year out of date, when NEW! $164 for year old maps?
Maps from your phone apps will be current, and free.
Still, using the built in nav has its advantages like HUD display, sound ducking (music level drops when the nav lady speaks), no cell coverage requirement, etc.
I'll use both when I finally get my Vette, but favor CarPlay navigation.
I use the “My Chevrolet” app on my phone. Type in the address, then send it to the car. Been using it for years without any problems.
That doesn't work unless you pay for the connected services subscription (I used to use it). Also, not handy while you're driving.
Google Maps also has an option to do this but only certain manufacturers are supported. I wish it supported Chevrolet.
