Ideally, two - one for the brake, one for the gas.

Depends on how far you want to take it, to 60, 80, 100?

If all you want is 0-60, it get's there quite fast in not a lot of distance. Of course you will need some extra distance for stopping, haha.

60 mph is 88 feet per sec...so 264 feet total so 300 feets sounds about right...give it 400 feet to be sure....start and stop.....I can see I did not word it right

Not really...
1. At 75 I have never had a ticket at any time, not even a parking ticket
2. Its illegal and with my luck a cop would be hiding somewhere and my insurance is way low...
3. If I lose control I will not be flying off into a ditch. you have to be at a complete stop and thats not a good idea on a road that no one is expecting that......
Now having said all that I probably would later after I get the first one under my belt.

Find an flat straight entrance ramp on an interstate and wait for zero traffic.

Actually, I think it could be classified as exhibition of speed. I got one of those for chirping my tires in a parking lot when I was a kid.

Apparently...in Wisconsin we have a fine for "excessive acceleration"

I have several friends that are police officers or state troopers who have said that's not really something they write you for but it has been done I guess. Otherwise I guess it won't exist.

Yeah, about excessive acceleration, in the late 60s, when my driver license was new, and I had not learned about avoiding speeding tickets, I was in traffic court, listening to another case (waiting for my turn). The officer described the stop by saying that he observed a Mustang exit from a parking lot, and the driver "appeared to be in a hurry", so he stopped him. I don't recall the actual charge in that case, but apparently appearing to be in a hurry was cause for a traffic stop, or at least the officer was able to get away with using that reason.

There is one place you can go where it is legal and safe to use the Launch Control as many times as you want. Your local Drag Strip. It might cost you a few bucks, but you will have a ton of fun. You might even try to keep it on the floor for the entire 1/4 mile and see what she's made of.

Ah yes, back in the day they could give you ticket for "burning rubber. " Said car was not under control. Anything they could as had a hard time catching you for drag racing, we were not "that" stupid! Had lots of look-outs!

In Texas circa 1987, received an award for "Exhibition of Acceleration" in a 100% restored Dodge Hemicuda. Technically wasn't speeding, but the acceleration was enough for the ticket.

You're overthinking this.
But it sounds like you're so nervous about using manufacturer installed software that you probably shouldn't use it. Especially your concerns about it being "illegal"? Huh ?
You might over react to the acceleration and do something dumb.
I think you really need to go to Ron Fellows and be instructed to ease your concerns.
Good Luck ❗
