I’m curious if any of you have ever heard officially why Chevrolet did not offer a manual transmission on the C8. I had a brain fart on this and as I was doing my build sheet I realized I could’ve choose between a manual and automatic. It’s just a but disappointing

Old topic, but try searching the C8 gen forum for the “manual transmission” thread and you’ll get about 30 pages worth of dialog.
As for the “official” reason from GM, in the beginning there were some BS talking points about lack of clutch pedal space, lack of transmission gearbox space, and lack of interest on a bespoke manual gearbox (which was bunk given the C7 had an almost 30% manual trans take rate when you included performance variants). Bottomline, this was about moving on and keeping up with the times, keeping fuel efficiency up, increased performance, future electric variant coordination and keeping overall costs down.
I have always bought manuals in the past and resisted the lack of it on the C8, but I have moved on and am enjoying my ‘22 HTC C8 immensely.
Unfortunately the manual transmission is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Corvette was one of the last holdouts of all the world-class sportscars.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I understand automatics are faster off the line but manuals are certainly more fun to drive. Maybe because younger folks can’t drive a clutch. Ferrari at least has paddle shifters
