I know I am about to get seriously "flamed" for this, but I am going to share an additional observation. I also believe the C8 design engineers were also required to follow current Chevrolet "design language". I submit the following photos of a 2022 C8 next to a 2019 Equinox. Have an open mind. I see similarities on the side coves, the rear, and even along the tops of the fenders. The C8 is definitely a different looking car, but arguably following the same design language as other Chevrolet models.

Suggest you get this book. It spends a lot of time and has many pics of clay models etc. Covers challenges like fitting two sets of golf clubs (which is just an indicator of needing trunk space not that a high percentage of folks carry two sets of clubs.)

It also validates from the design inception (which Tadge said was about when the C7 was launched in February 2013) they knew there would be no manual trans!
