There has been a great deal of discussion the last couple of years about the styling of the C8. The two main observations were the requirement that the car be "unmistakably" a Corvette in appearance along with the requirement that the trunk have the ability to hold two golf bags, significantly (and some argue negatively) affected the ultimate styling of the car. I know I am about to get seriously "flamed" for this, but I am going to share an additional observation. I also believe the C8 design engineers were also required to follow current Chevrolet "design language". I submit the following photos of a 2022 C8 next to a 2019 Equinox. Have an open mind. I see similarities on the side coves, the rear, and even along the tops of the fenders. The C8 is definitely a different looking car, but arguably following the same design language as other Chevrolet models.

Agreed. Even the tail lights on the newer trailblazer/blazer look like a Corvette.

We are in opinion space somewhat - but I believe that the sharp angular styling features are carried through on the Chevy line, and also the Cadillac line. That's not the same as saying the cars look alike, and I have never thought that the tail lights on the C8 look like the tail lights on the Camaro. So yes, the styling reflects both a "Corvette" look (some argue not) but also reflects certain styling cues from the Chevrolet and GM lines. Past examples include the two round tail lights - a Chevy signature feature in the past.

Equinox Redline is definitely one of the sleeker SUVs so to that extent it does resemble the C8. Chevy did put some effort into the design as opposed to the CRV which Honda just threw together and produced a jumble of gimmicks.

Equinox has an integrated cohesive design that will age well. The electric version should be a big hit as opposed to the E Ray which is generating little excitement.

You forget that they both have 4 wheels and black tires. What a shame. Looks the same to me.

L2M, I get where you’re coming from but the Corvette design team has complete autonomy and is in no way required to mimic GM styling…least of all anything that would show up on an Equinox. If there is any similarity to other GM vehicles, it is merely a “nod” that shows up in the rear end only. Keep in mind Audi, Porsche, Mercedes and BMW have a visual “identity” that ties their brand together. I actually think the C8 is the most uniquely un-GM car on the road…and I love it (as I know you do too).

To say this one is a bit of a stretch is an understatement. The last thing I think of when I look at an Equinox is Corvette. Sorry, you're grasping at straws with this comparison.

There may be a slight similarity, but ^ I agree that not enough to think the other Chevy cars remind me of a C8.

Wow, I didn't get flamed nearly as badly as I thought I would. Anyways, the blue gel sticker under my plate is a "This Blue Line" emblem. It indicates support for law enforcement...

Thanks for saving me some typing.

I realize that some people are always going find some fault to pick on with Corvette. Not everyone is going to be enamored with everything regarding this car, including its styling. I can honestly say I didn’t like the styling of the C5, C6, C7, or C8 when each were initially rolled out, but the styling eventually grew on me enough to buy one (two of each, except for my current C8).

If the Equinox has some Corvette styling cues (or vice versa), that is no different than what other car manufacturers do.

My C8 is the seventh Corvette I’ve owned and everywhere I go in it, I get positive feedback/reactions to it, which the styling has to have a lot to do with the reactions.

Most people are not going to examine a Corvette C8 and an Equinox and note similarities to extrapolate negative feedback about two different vehicles built by the same company, which at best appear to share some rather subtle and remote styling cues.

I don’t think the C8 shares any styling cues with the Equinox.

Be happy GM didn't make your Corvette wear a front-and-back big gold bow tie emblem as part of the "design language"!--Bob
