^^^ Sounds like a Rocket Money Ap commercial.
Get our ap and see all your monthly subscriptions you pay for and don't even use.

All fee based software is a scam.
If you need yearly updates (Tax Tables, ...) no problem with a fee or upgrade charge, but if a software is OK to run as it is without updates (word processing, excel, ...) a one time charge should all that be required. Just as the difference between buying a vehicle or leasing. No need for a lengthy discussion on that off-topic.

I purchased Office 2021 in 2024 at a tremendous discount because I purchased a new laptop and decided to install the last non-fee based version ever!

Waze is a great ap, it shows police, accidents, and other issues real time. AA is android auto, a link for getting aps on your phone on your cars infotainment.

Perhaps keeps popping up if someone buys a used 2024. That was the 1st year of GM's announced plan to make ~$25 Billion (not Million) in FEE Based Revenue in 2030. That is what Mary Barra told stockholders. Unlike my prior two C7s and 2020 C8 my 2024 E-Ray had no Google Map SD Card. All Road info was from OnStar. I had signed for the free 30 day OnStar but seeing no real needs and never having paid for OnStar in prior Vettes, canceled at ~25 days so did not pay anything. At first saw no difference. Then realized road speed limit was not showing in HUD or Dash! No source. Fortunately a member showed me a workaround that took over and hour to install. It put a fixed are google map in the cars memory. Road Speed Limit Back and in 1 1/2 years still there. The only thing I am missing is the ability to use sound commands. If i try it says a fee plan required! Not a big deal but not like my two C7s and 2020 C8!

I complained often on the Forum how foolish it was of GM Marketing as IF I had a free year I would have been hooked. Sure I can pay but it was the principal! Someone listened as for 2025 and later you get several years of the 1st level OnStar (~$10/mo) not the $60/mo I had. BUT IMO just a question of time.

SIDEBAR
Frankly don't blame car companies. GM for example annual revenue is half that of Google and Apple and much lower EBIT %! Why should, as it's their car they not receive that revenue INSTEAD of folks who make so much more SELLING your info to advertisers! As GM said not just the original buyer but the 2nd and 3rd owner will pay for QUALITY integrated software that reduces distracted driving issues!

GM is smart (may not appear that way at times) but they hired execs who have proven skills of taking what was once a one time purchase and made in a monthly fee! For example i use Dreamweaver for my business website. I bought a CD over 10 years ago. Adobe bought Dreamweaver. In fact i had one of the early Adobe PDF generators, reader, converters to word doc, ability to combine etc. It was expensive back in ~2007, ~$500 as i recall BUT needed for my business. No longer usable have to pay Adobe a monthly fee to use it. They also have a bundle with PDF management and Dreamweaver. So far with new computers i can get deamweverto work.

Same with QuickBooks I use to track sales, accounts due et. Have and old CD no longer available have to buy a monthly plan! So far with miner printing Invoice issue I have developed a workaround I have avoided monthly fees!

But expect with folks paying Spotify, Apple to listen to Music (letting them steel and sell your private info) why should where they can control in cars should not car companies earn that revenue
Some my not realize:
GM 2024 Revenue was $187 Billion and EBIT was 8%
Google 2024 Revenue was $350 Billion and EBIT was 34%
Apple 2024 Revenue was $393 Billion and EBIT was 34%

Yep expect folks used to paying monthly fees for APs, most steeling and selling your info in the long run with "better integrated software within the car to reduce distracted driving" it will work! that is what GM says they will do, they will have to prove! Yep as Mary Barra said they have to first sell cars and Trucks and show their software is better! Yep doing pretty good selling ~$850,000 Silverado/Sierra's/year! They have hired the execs with provide records of converting from one time sales to monthly/annual fees. My bet they will be successful!
