Default Timeline/Probability

I recently place a deposit for a 2023 C8-Z51-2LT at 2 major dealerships and wanted to know the process, from the time the deposit is received and getting a call for your build, If we are looking at 12/18 months, what's the probability of even getting a call. This my retirement present to myself and I'm super excited but at the same time feel it's not going to happen and I have ZERO interest in paying over MSRP.

You need to call the dealerships and ask two questions: (1) how many allocations do you expect to get for 2023 models and (2) what number am I on your waiting list. Chevrolet will give the dealer a monthly “allocation” of how many cars he can order. The dealer will typically place FIFO orders from their waiting list. So you can answer your question better than any of us can if you know the answers to those two questions. You may or may not have to worry about parts constraints that might prevent a particular configuration from being orderable.

see the sticky threads for a complete explanation.

Make sure that your dealers have allocations to order the car for you, call them & ask them if they have a "list" & what number are you on that list....you should not have to wait 18 months to get a C8

You may want to call one of the big dealers who have an allocation to order your car, some dealers will take your deposit & then you wait & wait , & wait. Ask the dealer if they have a list & what number you would be on that list. Also, make sure up front that they will sell you a car for MSRP with no add ons at delivery time, you have to be pro active & do the leg work to avoid a big disappointment

It would be helpful if you would disclose the dealerships you placed your deposit with. A deposit placed today with most dealerships for a MSRP car will get you a 2024.

Why wouldn't you ask the dealers you placed the orders with? Anything here is just speculation.

I would rather get a 2023 and I'm very patient, I'm in not rush

Z06 production might slow you down and it be more in that 12-14mo range, but I personally think GM is going to be limited by those hand built engines, especially out the gate, so I don't believe they'll sustain 30% of C8s as Z06s. Just my opinion.

For me MacMulkin was the best option... 12~14 months @ MSRP

For a C8 at MSRP you are looking at a 12-16 month wait, which means it will be a 2024 whether you want it to be or not. The only way to get a 2023 at MSRP would be to call around to a LOT of dealerships and pray one has an allocation that isn't spoken for AND they are willing to sell at MSRP.

The most stress free approach if in fact you are patient, is to put a deposit down with Macmulkin and just wait your turn. There will be zero surprises other than the potential price jump from MY 2023 to MY 2024.

What major dealerships? I strongly recommend removing the less confident of those two deposits, and placing a deposit with MacMulkin. Guaranteed MSRP with an online tracker updated weekly. I believe right now they’re ~12 months out. The entire process completely exceeded my expectations, and they actually beat their initial estimate of 12 months.

I agree with everyone else here. All of the big dealers are 12-16 months out now and even though it has been speculated that Chevrolet is going to roll out the first Z06s slowly they will cut into Stingray production. They started building the 2023s last week and we still don't know Z06 pricing unless it's come out in the last few days and I missed it.

I will say that I know two people who went to two different small town Chevy dealers near them around Thanksgiving last year and their 2022 C8s have been in their garages for a couple of months now. I helped both of them with their builds because one of them had never owned a Corvette and the other guy's last Corvette was a C4 he drove as a daily back in the mid 90s.

The key we all agree on was they visited the dealer, had a face to face conversation with the Sales Manager (not a salesman), and left there with all parties understanding they were serious about buying a C8. We had a quote we used where I spent my career: "Relationships determine results." I think that's why both of these guys - both successful businessmen - got an allocation so quick. It can happen. You just have to do the legwork.

I am going to stay out of the "which dealership" discussion.

You might find the attached spreadsheet useful for general information. It documents the progress of a group of members here. We were all part of the very last group of allocations for the 2022 model year. It documents the timeline from when the participants first placed a deposit or otherwise got on their dealer's customer list to delivery of the car. (For those who have made it all the way through the process.) The spreadsheet lists MSRP as an item of interest, but it does not document who paid MSRP and who paid MSRP+.

In my case, I went with a local dealer. (Voss Chevrolet, Centervillle OH.) I asked to be placed on their order list on 18 Feb 21. (Gentleman's agreement, no deposit required.) Agreement was for MSRP + TTL, and the dealer kept that agreement. I actually placed my order 13 months later, when my turn came up. My car was produced 62 days after order and was delivered to the National Corvette Museum this morning. (67 days from order.) I will pick it up one week from today. (74 days from order.) Other people had different experiences, as you can see.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...t#gid=99609475

I hope you get the car you want. Good luck to you.

You've picked two good dealerships. However, if I were in your shoes, I would also place a deposit with MacMulkin. Then, whoever delivers first, you get your deposits back from the other dealers.

i know one on the top 15 dealers did not get a allocation this month . putting a speculation on anything 1 week into 2023 production is gonna be a crap shoot.
