Default Engine Bay Plastic Surround

What has anyone done to dress up all the black plastic around the engine bay - not where the panels go. I am talking about the original black molded pieces. To me they are not a consistent dark black finish. I like them black but they basically look dirty or faded in certain light.

I tried everything to make the panels black and gave up. They do look dirty and are not a consistent color.

I went with Carbon Fiber pieces from AG Motorsports ......

The 2 hatch hydraulic struts with Carbon Fiber are from Paragon Performance.

New LED Etched rear window...... lights the perimeter and emblem/text in RED.

Added a little CF overlay to mine. Took me less than an hour.

When my detailer had my car, he polished and then ceramic coated the plastic surrounding the engine. Looks good and the water sheets off it. I don't have a photo of handy, but could post one later if you like.

Seeing the engine bay in the coupe would be REALLY cool for the first month of ownership and then not that big of deal, IMHO.

With the large water spots that came on those pieces in my late August 2020 built C8 I used two products. (BTW, the water spot issues apparently has been corrected at BG as it was thought it came from the 12,000 gallons they dump on each car to check for leaks. Perhaps have conditioned what must be recycled water!)

I used Meguire's Water Spot Remover and Polish. Then followed with several coats Meguire's Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer. Had used the Ultimate Balck to refinish the GM Splash Guards I took off my 2014 C7 Z51 and installed on my 2017 C7 Grand Sport. Took several coats and hard rubbing BUT looked new!

For the C8 I did the black panels by hand and rubbed hard. It says can use a buffer. Looked great. I have used one coat one more time in 20 months. Good enough for me!

I could not DISAGREE more. In fact why would anyone want a mid-engine Corvette then hide the engine under a big piece of plastic

As for me I will never get tired looking at this beauty.

I'm with you! Had mine for 17 months and I'm not tired if looking at it.

I use BeadMaker on all the plastic and after a month it still looks perfect and really helps/eliminate dust from sticking.

It will be interesting to see if the wrap holds up to the engine compartment heat over time. Looks like a good solution though.
