Default Front tint

Has anyone tinted the front windshield? I'm looking for UV and heat protection, not appearance. I was going to do 70% to keep from getting pulled over. Does anyone have this level and is it effective?

50% is almost not noticeable IMO... and IMO not worth

on my C8 i have ONLY the side windows tinted at 40% and its perfect... from the side its not too noticeable, from an angle is moderately dark... at night time no issue at all

on my gt500 i have all windows 20%, and then on the windshield its 50%... the 20% IMO is too dark, but the 50% on the front is nice....i'd have 35-40% put on the sides if i got motivated to change it..20% at night is an issue imo. annoying

I did 50-55% on all windows and the windshield. Looks darker from the outside looking in than it actually is. It does a good job of rejecting heat. It's also not too dark when driving at night.

A couple of pictures from in the garage and 1 from outside.

Oh heck yes lots of people have tinted the windshield. All of my car's since 2004 I have had the windshields tinted. My daily is at 35% and my C8 is at 45% which I think is perfect. But everyone has different vision, driving patterns and places they live. If you drive at night a good bit and don't have very good vision then I would not go to dark. I would say 55% is a good all around then 50% but lot of places will only do 70% and to me the right tint even at 70% will block the UV's and is better than nothing.

Llumar Air 80 Blue. I had it on my C7Z, my Dad just got it on his C8, and I will get it on my new C8 shortly after I get it.

Tinting your windshield was a game changer for me. I read on this forum several owners do this so I wanted to do the same for all the reasons mentioned. My challenge was finding a place to do it since it is illegal in the State of Washington. Once I found a place, I chose 70% ceramic. The tint not only helps with the heat, but it also helps with glare.

In short, this is something I highly recommend and now have this done to all my cars.

I did mine with 70% ceramic, and it makes a HUGE difference. Blocks the majority of IR, and is a game changer in FL. While I can certainly tell it is on the windshield, vision out is still very good......have not had any issues to date. Can also still see into the car, so not significantly noticeable. Did side windows with the max legal in FL (35 I think), and am very happy with results

I have 70% ceramic tint on the windshield and it does great at heat rejection. I don’t even use my solar shade anymore. Some have said there is a noticeable distortion at the sides of the windshield where it curves but I certainly don’t see anything of the such…..as always, the installer makes a difference as
this is not an easy job given how close the bottom of the windshield is to the dash.

Tint will help with the IR (heat) but the windshield already blocks most of the UV spectrum.

I have 70% on windshield and 35% on side windows. I agree with all the positive comments and am happy with my set up and the UV protection for my interior. I will say the reflection of the natural color dash on the windshield and on the side windows is more noticeable. It took some time to get used to it.

if the dash reflection is something that concerns you, it will be more pronounced with tint.

Any noticeable issue with the tint affecting the heads up display?
I had 70% tint on the windshield of another vehicle and liked the result.

I tinted the inside “brow” about 9 min inches from top of windshield. Clearplex the front with clear film. Stek is a better product but wasn’t available.

Between both films, it surely reduces the heat factor while near zero distortion.

I have an 80% ceramic tint on mine. I find the benefit claims to be exaggerated. Does it keep the interior cooler? Not that I can tell. Maybe with a precision thermometer you could tell the difference.

I stayed in AZ temps at 110 degrees with very direct sun - with and without film. I found it a significant difference with film protecting driver and passengers against
direct sunlight and temps inside car with AC on.

I do realize parts of AZ is the extreme, so some states it is different, especially not in hot summer.

I also did mine in the 70% Ceramic tint.
it works great to keep the heat out.
you can tell that it is tinted, when the car is parked beside another one with out tint, but hard to tell when it is by itself.
I like it.
