Ok I use my C8 as a DD. This morning as I had several stops on my way to the office I gave second thought to perhaps using the ford explorer instead of the vette. Chilly this am so top down not an option. With the top up ingress and egress a pain the a%% and that freaking wide door makes it so difficult in my office garage. I NEVER had this issue with prior sports cars. Its making me think I may have to go back to Porsche. But once im in and settled I do love this car
Door open to the second detent is more than enough to get out and hardly any wider than a normal car door at that point. Stick one foot out first and pivot it towards the back of the car as you swing your body around. Then get out as if you’re hugging a sheer face cliff ledge as not to bump the door into the car next to you. Just spry people things I guess.
I'd experiment a little more with getting in and out. I back mine into the garage and have my door against a wall. I'm never at the same distance so I've become pretty good at squeezing in and out when I'm too lazy to get further from the wall. They say we a ll should stretch each morning so I really don't mine. I'd rather spend 5 seconds squeezing in and out a couple of times a week then ever giving up the car. Each to their own....... I've looked at Porsche, always wanted one but don't smile nearly as much as when I drive the Corvette.

Don't get me wrong as I have owned dozens of Corvettes over the last 47 years and love them, however they are not a very practical car for everyday driving, running errands, parking etc.. They are however AMAZING as a second vehicle/Toy.
I believe that's partially why we see so many Corvettes for sale with low mileage and some having had multiple owners.
In fact, as much as I love them, don't believe I would own one if I couldn't afford multiple vehicles.
The easiest way to get out of the car is to swing your foot out, place you left hand on the side of the seat that curves up and push yourself up and out while steading the door with your right hand. I'm old, overweight, slightly disabled, bad back, etc., and this is easy for me.

I would fear this would break down the seat bolster. I put my left hand on the door sill and push up. That works for me but may not work for others.I have memory seats so when I exit I have the seat moved almost all the way back.

Perhaps the OP's issue compared to "other sports cars" is age! With the C8 lower side chassis members as they use the large center tunnel as a main structure member it's easier to get in and out than my two C7's, C6 and two C4s! And I'm older- just turned 80.
BUT I have my own gym and exercise 7 days a week. Proceed each routine with stretching! As one gets older that is key. I vary the body parts depending in issues. For the past several months it's been a focus on legs. Realized I could not do a quad stretch which I did all the time when taking long airplane trips, those and calf stretches. Taking a flight to Europe next week and can now do them and will on the plane!
I also have my seats set to exit and enter. Front and rear fully up, seat fully back and steering wheel up fully. My street rod is next to my DD C8 so can't open the door fully!
Before my C8 arrived thought I'd need a "protector" for my street rod door because of the "Bird Beak!" Turns out not needed just don't open the door fully.

So put the top down before ingress/egress, then put it up (I'm assuming this can be done with a C8). And the heater will keep you warm on a chilly morning with the top down.

I'm 67 years old and have had a right knee replacement and have zero issues getting in and out of my C8. I have had cars park really close to me and have been able to get in with the door halfway open. It's not easy but not really that difficult.
Knowing many others my age and even younger I can understand how they would have issues getting in and out of anything so I can understand the OP's concern.
I say if it keeps you from driving the car then definitely get back into a Porsche. I personally would have a very difficult time getting into a Porsche and that has nothing to do with physically getting into it.
Nope not age or flexibility -i do 10 miles a morning out on the bike on teh road at 6 am almost every day
Ive posted the photo of maximum egress at my garage in the past- hand on bolster / rotate etc useless advice- its a twist and shout comedy routine to see me get in or out.
Yes Ive had six carreras and the same garage - seems the vehicle door profile not the same as the 18inch corvette c8 door. Also theyre not so much on the ground with a climb over the rocker panel. The GS was a little easier as that door wasnt quite as wide, though still wide, and perhaps had a little less roof overhang. Also had an Sl which caused no issue and an f type r also no issue My boxster not an issue at all but teh manual is a pia in traffic
I know the feeling of being torn about this car. I seriously consider(ed) selling based on not being able to get the seating to be "comfortable"... (and I miss my Miata that went in order to get this car)...
No one ... especially not on a zealot forum..... can make that decision for you....... but here's a trick
flip a coin.
If it's truly a 50/50 idea .. this solves it... and sometimes, you don't get the answer you didn't really know you wanted, and then you DO know..

I lift my butt up in the seat and swing both legs out of the car at the same time , avoiding scraping my shoes against the footwell and then , with both feet on the floor, get out..I am also old, overweight, and still over the moon for this car!

I feel your pain about the Miata. I traded a Chevy Cruise in on my C8 because they don't make them anymore. There are times I wish I had that Cruise again, but I'll just have to put up with the C8 and its shortcomings.

I DD my C8 7-8 months out of the year. At 6'4" post spinal fusion surgery, I don't have any issues...or any that exist are worth the satisfaction to drive from point A to point B.
not sure what you are asking here or how any of us can help.
He's not really asking anything. He's telling us he likes his old Porsche better and wants to get reactions from guys who have C8's.
It seems to be ongoing on these forums. Lots of click-bait threads about Porsche's where the OP tries to convince us that Porsche's are better or they miss their Porsche and want feedback from us as to whether they should go back to Porsche.
I don't go to any Porsche forums and I wonder if there are lots of "should I sell my Porsch and get a C8"? threads.
