I have a 2022 3LT. Have had it for over a year. Just over 5,000 miles. It looks the same as new. I was surprised when I saw those photos

I think this is a hot climate issue However after DECADES this should still not be happening.

Not necessarily a hot climate issue, at least it hasn't been for the many C7 3LT dashes of garage queens that have had little or no sun/heat exposure from cooler northern states. It's more an adhesive / install execution issue.

I also believe this is an adhesive/install issue but may be exasperated with heat. Don't know why it only appears to happen to 3LTs. If it is going to happen it will most likely happen early on. Yes, a few may make it past the warranty period but the majority appear to happen early on.
The good news is on the C8 it doesn't require dash removal to fix. The part over the HUD just snaps on. The passenger side requires more disassembly but is nothing like the previous years where the whole dash needed to be removed.

Because its the exact same problem with the exact same causes & solution. Remove the affected pieces and take them to an auto upholstery shop or re-glue the leather down correctly yourself. It's not rocket science - though apparently it is for GM.

Altho it seems highly unlikely after all these years, could it be the adhesive and compatibility of/'with materials itself? If this were the first year of a glued-down "fabric" of some makeup to a dash, it might be more understandable. But still, I do wonder about the adhesive or glue itself. (I also admit I didn't think it was such a big issue on the C7 gen---but I guess it was, maybe as big as the prior gen, C6's),

Leather is much different than synthetic materials in that it's subject to shrinkage from heat. UV and age. If it shrinks the best adhesive is going to let go.

Hi Joe; I live in Fernandina Beach, FL, and am close to pulling the trigger on a 2021 HTC. 1700 miles, and a clone of yours!! (Sorry, ). Been plowing thru the "Issues/Probleme" sticky and would absolutely walk away from the purchase based on what I'm reading! I'd be selling a cherry 2009 C6 Z06 to buy the C8 and am unsure if I want to give this one up based on all the feedback from C8 owners.

Do you still have your C8? Would you be willing to talk/meet sometime? Real-world experience on a car that has been in service for a while would be great. And, if I get this one, I promise I won't put the CF stripes on it, so we won't be identical!

PS: Tried to PM you, but got a message from the forum that your inbox is full and can't accept any more PM's. Please PM me if you are willing, thanks! And apologies for the thread "steaL". Didn't know how else to reach out to JoeB83.

Having owned a C6 Z06 for 110K+ miles and now a problem free 2020 C8 for 2 1/2 years I would trust the C8 more than your Z06 with the rampant valve drop and TI rods going away issues. I know of several Z06 owners that's lost 2 or 3 engines due to those problems. To date there's still no guaranteed fix for the valve drop problems.

I have a 22 C8 HTC and mine doesn't look as bad as yours, but I have a big size bubble also on the (airbag) pad. I'll take it in when I service it. It looks ugly, but hey, being in the car industry I'd be happy to just get parts at this point. By trying to catch up, I'm sure its sacrificing quality unfortunately.

Avoid leather dashes like the plague especially if you have to park outdoors. Heat and cold are also factors in addition to poor quality materials. . I've been burned twice with BMWs.

It really makes you wonder what other simple things they are doing wrong.

The real question is why do you need a leather dash at all? Is it just something to add with an insane profit margin that doesn’t add to the quality or feel of the car? I get leathers seats, I get leather surfaces on the things you touch, but who rubs their dash?

Dumb place for leather.
