Default 3LT vs 2LT

I'm about to order my new C-8. I'm going through the build sheets but I don't see the difference between the two base cars. What do you get for the extra $5K?

Get the 3lt. You will never find yourself saying I sure wish my interior had that. I ordered a less then the top interior once in 2007. I kept that car less then six months. Hated the cheap sounding radio, cheap seats, and other things I can't remember. Went top of the line interior ever since and never regretted it.

From memory.

Middle grade seats. Better leather just in seating surfaces of those seats. Stitched steering wheel. Suede leather A pillars and headliner. Fancy stitching in headliner if coupe (not HTC). Higher grade dash leather that is more prone to peeling.

Not a lot for 5 grand plus as mentioned above, the added risk of dash leather delaminating.

If you prefer the "dipped Interior" (full all adrenaline red or full all natural color interior) it's only available in the 3LT trim package.

I personally don't think the 3LT is worth the extra money unless, like me, you want an interior color that is only available with 3LT. Tension/Twilight blue in my case. Having said that, the extra leather and stitching looks pretty good.

i got 3LT and i dont think it was worth the extra 3k. the leather quality is not as nice as I expected and i could have used the extra 3k for wheels or ppf. and i say 3k because i would have got the gt2 seats anyways.

My favorite 3LT feature is the stitched steering wheel cover, otherwise you get the rental car looking plastic steering wheel cover.

Otherwise it’s subjective stuff like that. I Love the 3LT interior, but if I was pinched for cash I would be fine with 2LT.

As others have said it’s really like $3k if you opt for the much nicer GT2 seats. There are far more worse value options like paying $1k just to have black wheels, or $600 for painted calipers.

Softer supple Napa leather in 3LT. From what I've read the 2LT's Mulan leather is a bonded/synthetic mix. Rougher but more durable and less expansion/contraction under varied temperature ranges. 1LT should have much of the same which I'm getting plus the comp seats with performance textile in high-wear areas.

Over the years I've owned 'em all 1, 2, & 3....
My C8 is 1LT Z/51
I miss nothing of the 2LT or 3LT
FWIW I put 97,000 plus miles on a C7 MN7 LT3 - trouble free car

Well said. Since I wanted the GT2 seats, would have bought with LT2 for those BUT wanted Natural Dipped! So for my 2020 it was ONLY and extra ~$3500 for seat color. GM obviously did that for a reason. "We'll hook them into a higher margin option with color." Yep I like that nicely stitched headliner BUT I seldom bend my neck that.

Don't blame GM, their choice. I had a 3LT C6 and 2014 C7. BUT GM got cheap in 2016 and made the 3LT look like a Patch Work Quilt! For my 2017 Grand Sport got a 2LT. I could not tell the difference in seat or dash "leather."

They hooked be back for the C8 with Natural Dipped. All "Dipped" and some other seat color combos are ONLY available as a 3LT. You can opt for the top GT2 seats with a 2LT C8 and get the only real animal hide, the seating surface made of Mulan, their proprietary name for faux "leather."

With the C7 never said what "soft touch materials" (as they called them) where except the seating surface of the top seat option. For the C8 they admit the seat bolsters in even the 3LT are Mulan as is the seating surface of the lower level seat. Oh there may be one other "real tanned animal hide leather" part, the small Mode **** Wrist Rest! ." The fake Suede is man-made like Mulan.

From posted info not sure what the C8 Mulan actually is made from. For the C7 it was reported from a leak to be Vinyl (PVC) with finely ground real leather scrapes as a filler called bonded leather. That allows it to be called leather. Does smell like leather! With all those burgers we eat as a county need to do something with all that leg, head and other real leather scraps!

All 3 Are C7 3LT. In 2016 GM got Cheap On All But Extra Cost Specials!

far to see it!

The only Napa is the seating surfaces of the seats. If you get GT2 seats on a 2LT you have just as much "napa" as a 3LT. The rest of the leather even dash and doors, while "nicer" than what is on 2LT, is not napa. I own a 3LT but just clarifying.

Post 3 lists the items from the Chevy web site, but there are some details worth noting. I will not comment on whether its worth the extra money - but keep in mind that the LT3 adds the GT2 seats, which is extra with LT2. I have the LT3. The Alcantra upper trim makes a difference to me. I posted photos below of LT2 and LT3 with sky cool gray interior - you can see the different in the upper trim in those photos.

Here is list of upper trim items that get the Alcantra (suede-like):

Here is GT2 seat detail:

Here's what gets the alternative "leather" wrap - it seems nice to me - some owners have had delamination issues with the dash - which is claimed to be associated only with the upgraded "leather":

NEXT TWO ARE PHOTOS OF LT3 SHOWING UPPER TRIM - SKY COOL GRAY INTERIOR:

NEXT TWO ARE SAME CAR, BUT LT2, WITH SKY COOL GRAY INTERIOR, SHOWING UPPER TRIM. NOTE ITS QUITE DIFFERENT (THESE ARE FROM THE CHEVY BUILD AND PRICE TOOL - I ASSUME THEY ARE AN ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF THE INTERIOR - I DONT HAVE AN LT2 TO VERIFY):

Obviously if the other cars in your garage have cheap bonded leather then you might be happy with the 2LT.

in my garage the Corvette is by far the least expensive car and I wanted the interior to feel up to standard. The leather in the 3LT is a huge upgrade both because it is a significantly higher quality and closer to higher end European cars, and also because you get the alcantara headliner and full leather (e.g. the lower sections of the dash and doors are also leather). And then you get the leather airbag. The steering wheel is the primary interface with the car and upgrading that is very noticeable too.

I rented a 2LT for a weeekend and while the car was great, I always felt the interior seemed cheap and betrayed that this is a 60k car Even though it cost more.

The 2LT rental car looking plastic steering wheel, as you say, looks and feels pretty good to me. At least good enough not to pay an additional $5000 for the 3LT. Seems you have the tenancy to exaggerate a little.
Please post a photo of your 3LT steering wheel for comparison. Thanks

The 2LT option is most certainly the sweet spot for me along with GT2 seat option...I'm definitely not a fan of the faux suede interior upper trim pieces...Also the 3LT is notorious for delaminating / bubbling dashes and wouldn't want the headache or worry...And lastly, and no offense to anyone, but the 3LT interior looks a bit tacky and dated to me with all that faux suede... But as always to each their own!

Absolutely the best looking rental car steering wheel I've ever seen.

The alcantara (fake suede) components are what really turns me off from getting the 3LT. Reminds me of the fake suede interiors in the gaudy pimp mobiles of the 1970's.

"Mostly!" When I mentioned that in a post someone quoted from an article where GM Interior folks were interviewed. They very carefully said they used more 'leather" but without saying what was real OR their faux Mulan leather. When the word leather is used in literature you can assume Mulan unless specified as Napa or Nappa (same stuff) named from a tannery many years ago in Napa CA so I refer to it as Napa.

All except one statement: GM Trim Design Manager was quoted as saying re the Wrist Rest: “We were focusing on making a surface that feels good to the hand ….There’s a Nappa leather version and there’s suede.” Only other reference to Napa leather I have seen other than the "seating surface."

I love my 3LT interior. I also needed it for the color, but after having driven my car and a 2LT, I would get the 3LT again. To me, it makes the C8 a real GT car. Best bang for your buck is 2LT w/GT2 seats. If I was just getting a track monster, I'd go 1LT and GT3 seats.

But make no mistake, everyone loves my 3LT interior. I often get asked if I can give folks a ride around and they (as I do) are really impressed by the suede.

I have a car that I can road trip, take to a fancy restaurant, or to the track, and it's ready for any of those scenarios.
