So as luck would have it, it is raining right now in the PHX area. The point I was making above about developed communities using the streets and curbs as the via for storm movement to a low point retention basin can be seen in this pic. I just snapped this from my front door. It is a still pic, but storm water on both curbs is running like rivers. When the rain stops it will take less than five minutes and the water will be gone as the street is graded that way. (Great for skateboarders, at least in one direction).
This is likely going to be the issue with the curb interference. You might argue that one driveway won't impact this storm flow, but when you allow one, you have to anticipate everyone could want one and when you approve one you have to approve them all.
...And, rain just stopped and rivers are gone....
Yep in AZ this is an all too familiar sight. Don't like the rain, wait 20 minutes and it will be gone. Best bet might be to engage Bridjit and see if they have any prepared materials they can send you to pass along to the HOA. Understand the inconvenience at times taking steep angles into the driveway but might just need to be the solution until you can find a more permanent one. In my neighborhood there is also no overnight street parking in the CC&R's however, the Town does not have that rule on public streets (which ours is as it is not gated) therefore it overrides the CC&R's. I prefer no street parking and my kids and I throw baseballs and make it a point to miss every so often... Funny how they almost never park in front of my house!
Or simply enter/exit at an angle as already mentioned. The rolled curbs aren't that high, and can easily be overcome as stated above.
Agree. If that is an option I’m confused why this post was even made…or why he’s fighting the HOA if there was a simple solution. I take my driveway on an angle every day. My point was once an HOA gets fixated on an issue, you’re screwed.
A year ago I paid the non-refundable $10 app fee to our AZ HOA in order to use my 3 Bridjit curb ramps. The HOA declined my request saying the water & debris that would build up under them which would ruin the curb & street. There have been 5 other homeowners that have these same curb ramps for yrs & no problems.... come to find out they didn't ASK the HOA, they just laid them down in their curbs & use them. I asked for a meeting w/ the BOD of the HOA to appeal the decision. Again, they said no, arrogant people. One of them even said he has no problems getting out or back into his driveway w/ his "sports car". I asked him what he drives & he said a Miata, I just laughed & said that isn't a sports car. I am sure the laughing has placed me on the BLACK LIST for everything now....... I even said I would paint them a concrete color to match, again NO DICE. I don't care, I take them out, pull the Corvette out & move them to the driveway. Then coming back in, I set them in the curb, pull in & move them into the backyard. 75% of the people in these "Active Adult Retirement Communities" shouldn't even be allowed to drive a golf cart or an electric bike let alone a motor vehicle. I think it is a LEGAL problem w/ these HOA's having people not paying attention & hitting the ramp w/ their golf carts or electric bikes & crashing. Most of these communities are people from the "Driving DEAD School" or they are graduates of "The Helen Keller School of Driving". Heck most of them can't even walk w/o paying attention because they are on their phones YAPPING. I don't need them to be walking by my driveway w/ my curb ramps placed down & they stub their toes & trip.......WOW, It would be........ call the LAWYER TIME. It just takes another 10 mins of extra work to use them going out & coming back in, it gives me some extra exercise also, WIN - WIN for me.

Again very easy to enter/exit at an angle. And fyi, by definition a Miata is a sports car.
Definition of sports car
: a low small usually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving. -Merriam-Webster
First house I purchased in AZ in 97' was in an HOA. I lived there for just over a year and got multiple letters. I was glad to get out of there and vowed to never live in an HOA again. Just a few of ridiculous things they sent a letter about-
1- Cat was outside not on a leash. Really?
2- Gravel leading to RV gate (that was installed when the house was built) showed tires track from me driving on it.
3- left my trash can out after 5pm the day of pickup
4- on vacation for a week and my grass got higher than the allowed 4 inches
6- satellite dish was above the fence line (big thing back then, no longer an issue these days)
And the best one- I owned a 3\4 ton crew cab lifted truck. They considered it commercial just because it was a 3/4 ton or 1 ton!
