Well bought the code reader and found the P0700 code which could be anything, not suffering any transmission problems but set up an appointment. 1300 miles on the 2020 and this is the first CEL. From what i have read it can be anything from nothing low fluid to a transmission replacement. Anybody else have this problem and what was your results.
Several problems may result in the appearance of a P0700 code or any code similar in designation. In many cases, there is a defect with the shift solenoid. Occasionally, a short or open circuit within the TCM or the engine coolant sensor is causing problems and impeding efficient/normal operation.
Other causes may include a faulty TCM. In rare cases, the powertrain control module (PCM) could also be faulty. The PCM monitors and maintains all signals sent from various sensors about your engine’s powertrain.

I just had the P0700 as well as P1967 transmission codes throw the CEL at approximately 50 miles on a 2023. The CEL extinguished, but the stored codes were read by the dealer. After the car was at the dealer for a few days, GM directed the dealer that no corrective action or service was authorized and that it was a “software anomaly.” GM told the dealer that there needed to be an active code before they would support or authorize any action…..
P0700 is the code that tells the computer to turn on the check engine light. You need another code for the problem.
Yes, there should be a “trigger” code that goes with the P0700. In my case it was P1967, which is specific to the transmission. My frustration was that after multiple days at the dealer, GM’s response was that unless the code is active, they/dealer won’t investigate it. This kind of diminishes the value of storing a code.

Did you reset it and see if it comes back? Basically, in the 2020 version of the Service Manual that I have, the procedure indicated for that code has the technician check for other codes. If there are none, it says "14. All OK." Interestingly, I don't see where it says to clear the code. Generally if there is nothing wrong, many codes will clear themselves after several ignition cycles. Its also interesting if you are getting P0700 with no other apparent code - almost as if the issue is the software that generates that code. As noted, its purpose is to illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Light or MIL (aka CEL). The request to illuminate the MIL can come from the Body Control Module, Transmission Control Module, Brake System Control Module or Chassis Control Module according to the procedure. The instruction have the tech look for other codes associated with any of those, or any other codes.
Suggestion when u get a CEL use OnStar to run a diagnostic check that way u have a hard copy report in case the car clears the code. Then go to the dealer.
when I received my 1st CEL over about 3000 miles I received other CEL's and at 3500 miles on my 2020 had a Speed Sensor had to be replaced
