Every car I have bought since my 1966 Buick Skylark has had the upper 5-6 inches of the windshield tinted. It was built into the glass. My new 23 HTC has no tint in the windshield at all. Did I miss something when I ordered it? All my daily drivers have it now. Now I have to pay someone to add a tint to the inside of the windshield. Why is this?
Nope. You didn't miss it. I took the opportunity to tint the whole front window for heat rejection purposes.
A typical eyebrow feels like it'd consume a larger portion of my field of vision vs a "regular" car.
Isn't any tint below the AS-1 line illegal? I tried to get my C6's windshield tinted and they wouldn't do it.
It is but people do it anyway:
Aftermarket tinted windshields tend to leave distortions in the field of vision and mess up the HUD. Also is another expense down the drain when your windshield gets cracked,

It is aftermarket clear vinyl plastic wraps (to protect against rock chips) that leave distortions in the field of view. Good ceramic tint doesn't distort and has no effect on the HUD.
Anyone know if those XPEL window tint/protection affect things like a neighborhood gate opening sticker? For example, on my windshield now I basically have a sticker thing that triggers my neighborhood gate to open when I pull up.

well my toll tag still works with the xpel. You will need installer to provide you static cling for any tags you have to replace. Cant just stick a registration sticker on the film and remove, replace sticker.
Yep, those of you that make your glass darker, are going to have that glass heat up more than lighter tint or clear.
Just think of a black car vs. a white car...
UV energy is hard to reduce. It's even harder to reduce, when you darken any surface...
