I thought the taillights were integrated into the bumper, at least that's what I saw on some video when they were assembling C8s. Maybe these round tailights are just covers on top of the existing taillights instead of being replacements. They do look good on the car because they maintain some of the angular look to match the overall style of the vette but if they are just covers they won't be desirable. Like others said, there has not been any updates on availability of these on the vendor website.
You probably saw a rear bumper assembly getting bolted on with taillights attached. There’s no way you can make a rear plastic facia with working taillights as one solid piece.
If one takes every Corvette ever built, the number which do not have round taillights will exceed those that did (a threshold crossed a few months ago). Another urban legend.
I spoke with someone from competition carbon a few weeks ago, they were pushed back because of their carbon supplier. They’re supposed to release 1st quarter 2023.
It's not 1963 any more. Not even 2013 any more. Besides, early C1s didn't have 4 round taillights. Neither did the C4 or C5. Or C7. Time to enter the 21st century.
The C4, or fourth generation Corvette actually DID have round taillights (4 of them) on 1984-1990 models. ZR-1 in 90+ and 91-96 had squared lights. Time to fact check, again.
Once GM went away from the rounded C6 (and some prior years) to the squared off sharpe lines of the C7 it was illogical to continue with round taillights. I thought a poor marketing move was the camo'd C7s showed round openings in the rear making folks think the design had the prior Vettes round taillights!
The C8 follows along those sharp rectangular C7 lines. Sure the rear is not it's best esthetic view BUT round taillights (and frankly round exhaust tips) don't fit IMO.
Glad GM has "real designers" on staff of not a "Forum consensus of many" design that makes Camels! Lights and exhaust tips fit the rectangular shapes design.
Yep the rounded lines of a Ferrari ME are different and some may like better BUT C8 design is excellent, modern and the rear more functional.
As others have implied, I think it's more a supply issue than demand issue. Even GM has been experiencing the CF supply issue for C8 OEM factory options. There's also the chip shortage which could potentially have lagging indirect contagion that affecting this product's timeline/cost.

C8 taillights are an assembly and are bolted to the bumper and can be remove as a sealed unit. The bumper has to be removed to take them out.
