What music input sources does a C8 have?
I assume you can play tunes from your phone. Can you play music from a USB Drive?
My music library is on my desktop PC. Only a small portion of my music is on my phone, and when I am traveling I want to use my phone for a wi-fi hub, and Waze.
Can I copy my entire music library onto a USB and plug it into the car? Is there any trick to playing from a USB.
I had the same issue but solved it in a different way. I have about 800 songs on an iPod (downloaded from iTunes that includes CDs that I own and uploaded into iTunes plus songs that I purchased individually from iTunes) that is plugged into a port in my daily driver (2020 Acura MDX). I wanted to do the same in the C-8.
I was thinking of buying another MP3 player to dump the contents for use in my Corvette but the simplest solution for me was to dump the entire contents of of iTunes into my iPhone. I'll be using Apple Car Play for maps anyway and the connection is wireless so as long as I have the phone with me, I have all of my music in the car. And, there was no additional cost.
I'm going the USB route. I'm always using the phone for apps while driving, or the battery is low. I like the USB, once it is plugged in, it works. Then the phone is free to do anything else.
No trick at all. While there is not a slot to plug in a chip, there are both USB and USB/c slots. ..
IIRC some people are having issues with the NAV function when using some drives, but they will have to weigh in on this.

Yep, I lived with the NAV SD Card removed error for a year (as some others.) Was using the same SanDisk flash Thumb Drive I had used in my 2014 C7 and 2017 Grand Sport where it worked fine. Even bought several new SanDisk flash drives and tried, no help. It has to do with NAV and whatever is plugged into USB starting at the same time and both use the same Buss.
Tried many things with no help including buying a new NAV SD card; dealer tech reinstalling Sound Sofware and no help. Then Dealer tech found a note in the GM Service online system they subscribe to that said, "Don't use a SanDisk Flash Drive!" So bought a Verbatim flash drive that works fine and has for several months with no errors. Error was occurring about every 10 to 15% of my starts.
Error was occurring every 1/3 start, reduced to every 10 to 15% following a Poster suggestion
Bought new NAV SD Card no help. Others where dealer reinstalled new SD slot reader, no help
CONCLUSION SanDisk is fine, others are using BUT I bought all mine from the cheapest source on Amazon for what said they were the same specs (I assumed wrongly it was a real SanDisk Flash Drive.). PROBABLY as others have found both on the Forum and Net in general - there are bootlegged copies. Perhaps read speed not meeting specs etc. From my industrial experience, copiers are smart and pick the market leader! If buying a SanDisk brand buy from a reliable source. I would buy direct and as I recall they sell on Amazon just more money!
I used a USB Sandisk drive. Only issue I found is that the audio player will not advance to the next folder by itself so you have to create play lists.

Exactly what I have found in other cars. It plays every song in the first folder then stops. I have a USB that has all of the songs in the root directory. That works.
Just say no to MP3. Apple Music with Lossless play/download and wireless wifi carplay (or wired from your phone which is slightly better but most peolple can't hear the difference)

BIg difference over compressed audio
In a car, doesn't really matter to me as I'm usually listening to the exhaust. But at home, yes FLAC files, Kann CUBE, and Meze Audio Rai Penta's or Focal Elear's.
It makes no sense to me to have (pay for) a BOSE 14 speaker super stereo system in a car, then listen to compress (MP3) audio. ...
For those with iTunes, .. my sister had recorded/ripped many CDs that she OWNED. Apple decided that since she didn't buy from THEM that they were pirated and wiped them. That was years ago and she still hasn't recovered...
I'm still a little put out that they didn't put a CD player in the C8. That's how I have most of my music (that's not on vinyl--a different issue, as I had recorded my vinyl onto casette, only playing the vinyl ONE TIME---they took cassettes out of cars years ago, but I digress). Now I don't have a way to play all that in the car without ripping it all to FLAC. ..
Guess I'll just keep listening to the song of the engine and those few that I have smashed to mp3.
…anyone know if there’s a 10K song limit? My ‘15 Equinox has a 10K song limit from an iPod…I’m sure that’s probably more than enough for most, but my collection is 16K+ songs….most burned from CD’s I owned as well and iTunes has never erased them or had any issues with them…
Anyone here use wireless earbuds instead to listen to their music? Some of the newer buds can be set to get external sounds at the same time so you're not totally isolated.
I have been a pretty loyal user of Sirius. I recently tried Spotify (the free version). I need to spend time loading it up. It seems to work for me. I am sure you will get the serious audio file that can tell you which one sounds better. I like both for the ease of use. I can have both in the car, phone, laptop, tv, etc, etc
