The procedure should be outlined in your owner’s manual. I do believe you have to press the lock button on the fob first then the remote start button twice.
You do not need to press the lock button if the car is already locked.
I use the AutoLock on exit feature, so the car is always locked when I am not in it, so I never need to press the lock button before using remote start.
Fun fact, if you remote start the car and open the trunk before you open the door, the engine will stop.
I’ve had key fob remote start issues with my 2024 Z06 Corvette and there is programming patch to address the issue. Have your Chevy dealership look up Service bulletin #24-NA-018 INTERMITTENT REMOTE VEHICLE START.
Also the system will not work if there is a check engine light.
not so absolute… I just ran for six weeks while they ordered apart for my climate control with a check engine light on, it didn’t affect remote start at all. Possibly if there’s some type of engine problem that the check engine light is on for, then it may, but not all check engine lights.

Including your vehicle's year and model info in your signature (or anywhere in your post) would make things a lot easier to help with, since there are some subtle functional differences between the model years.
It would increase the numbers of useful answers, and hopefully reduce the rest.
