I am having wheels made that will be hand brushed with a tinted clear powder coat. They will then machine face the wheel but they do not plan to put a clearcoat over the machine face. Will that be an issue as long as I ceraminc coat the face a couple times per year? I live in the south and this is not a daily driver. Just not sure if the aluminum will oxidize.

I’m pretty sure that GM applies a clear coat on their machine faced wheels. If it were me, I would want the wheel clear coated as an extra layer of protection.
Mine had a clear coat applied to them after powder coating and CNC. I would think unless you damage the wheels that it doesn’t need reapplication. I’ll bump this thread down the line if I end up being wrong.

Did you apply the clear coating yourself? If so, what did you use? I would imagine the wheel would need to be masked to keep from putting the clear coating over the top of the powder coating. My wheels are being prodcued by Finspeed. They said that the clear somewhat dulls the finish and as long as the wheel is ceramic coated a coulpe times a year that oxidation won't be a problem. I don't believe they are trying to cut corners so I want to believe they are correct.
Going back in email conversation, it looks like mine have a clear powder coat over the top. I'm sure applying something every so often is a novel solution in your case but that just seems like way too much work to me. Would opt for something more permanent if I were you. My wheels were $200 each to CNC and powder coat.

All wheels are powder coated, the machined wheels are powder coated clear.

Wow , you got a wheel guy to machine the useless bumps off the OE wheel and redesign the lip and machine the outer edge of the spokes, I tried to do just that and my wheel guy was afraid to do it because it would somehow lessen the integrity of the wheel... absolute hog wash. I ended up getting a polished aftermarket wheel.

I got a wheel guy who said he could do this too. The problem I ran into is that they need the wheels off the car, and I was troubled about the car sitting on jacks for 3-4 days while they complete this process. So now I'm leaning towards either just leaving as is, or buying aftermarket.
Such production wheels (OEM or after-market) are always clearcoated. However, I've refinished wheels with polished rims I've intentionally left uncoated. It is no problem, just requiring a little hand rubbing with fine polish whenever dulling (oxidation) starts to bother me. No big deal, either with or without with wheels done both ways, imho.
If the car is driven alot and in not so great conditions, clear coat or powder coat raw polished wheels for no pesky polishing all the time. Also depends on wheel design, a multi spoke, multi angle wheel is a pita to polish and I love polished wheels.
