Not to take anything away from the Ferrari, but it is nice there is an option out there that has many of the same attributes for a fraction of the price.
Without cars like the Ferrari, there would be no reason to create the C8. I’m a big fan of both and I’m happy for the people that have them.
Just came across this pic, thought I’d share.
I actually think the C8 looks better (in these pics, side profile)… I don’t love the side intake on the Ferrari.
I might be biased tho lol
EDIT: I guess I need to mention that I’m not comparing the cars in terms of performance , quality, fit and finish etc etc. or saying that the c8 is in the same league.
Im just talking about the actual look/design of the 2 cars pictured.
The one thing I find my C8 lacking and have from before I bought it- brakes. They are OK but not as quite good as my 2017 Grand Sport. The Ferrari Pista (and other performance cars) have larger brakes. Some with even smaller tires stop faster. Wondered why?
Jason Fenske (Engineering Explained) found out when he interviewed the GM Brake Engineers.
Jason discusses why some have criticized the poorer stopping then the C7, They said inherently an ME can stop faster than a similar front engine FE car as the braking loads are more evenly distributed. In aggressive stops more weight is still transferred to the front wheels, although it's less. BUT it also can cause less experienced drivers to get the rear end twitchy and cause it to slide out. GM worked hard on the C8 design to avoid that oversteer situation with the rear heavy C8. He says that is a recipe for an inexperience driver to get in trouble. He said the engineers used smaller brakes than optimum for max stopping so inexperienced drivers who don’t know what you’re doing behind the wheel (his words) didn't get in trouble!
Frankly before I placed my C8 hold-a-spot order in July 2019 I posted a pic of the then announced Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 and noted it's much larger brakes than what was on prototype C8 Z51. It had even somewhat smaller tires. Wondered why. Jason recently found the answer! Note how fast the Ferrari stops compared to the C8 Z51. From 70 mph the C8 takes 25 feet, 20% longer. The Ferrari has the same size tires but much larger brakes. BTW, several companies offer 15-inch rotor, 6 piston caliper brakes for the C8. Even from Brembo.

Good show and I still think the C8 is missing a fender badge.
In regard to the first comment from the OP about the intake, seems like the Ferrari design has much more functionality for everyday use. The C8 door is so wide when opening vs the Ferrari doors. I think both are beautiful, but I can’t afford a Ferrari.
The fact Corvette is made in America is all the reason I need to buy it.
Buy American, Americans work!
So one could also buy Toyota, BMW, Audi, Nissan, Honda...
I'm sorry the tacked on C8 side scoop and rear spoiler does not come close to the very smooth & integrated design of the Ferrari, it just doesn't. This photo also highlights the pug-like squished nose of the C8 compared to the much better-looking nose of the Ferrari.
What's missing in that meme is the Ferrari "can go from 0 to 124 miles per hour in the time it takes many vehicles to reach 60 miles per hour, which is only 7.6 seconds. The max speed for the 2020 Ferrari 488 Pista is 211 miles per hour." What are those figures for the C8 Stingray?
To be honest- cost no object- I suspect most everyone here would go for the italian car for a multitude of reasons. Its a visceral experience and an aural experience. If youve ever driven a new one you feel like a transformed individual. Powerball win gets me an F8 anyday the C8 would be gone in a hour
I’ve had the Ferrari “experience” three times in my life. F355, F360, and F430. They are very similar to the owning a boat experience. The best days are the ones when you bring them home and then when you sell. Whereas the newer generations may fare better, I was too well acquainted with the mechanic and service advisor at my local dealership. It was like driving a piece of glass, every drive you hope the CEL doesn’t turn on. All the 911s I’ve had (and still have) have been tough as nails….I wouldn’t hesitate to take my GTS to the track and then drive across the country. The C8 has been a blast for going on 2 years and has also been flawless so the trend is there.
Ferraris are beautiful and for those that have or have had better experiences than me I envy you as all I do is turn the page when I see one.
I live in Switzerland where you see Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin at almost each citys' corners' streets. Nobody takes care whatever you drive because they are part of the "landscape". Except if you drive exotic supercars with unusual colors or wrapping.
Hence if you want to drive a car which pops out of the herd, you need to choose cars like the C8 because it is a car which you seldom see on the swiss roads even in the german speaking part of the country as where they are more aficionados for muscle cars.
The fact that the european C8 will not be anymore imported will also renforce the rarity status of this very beautiful car which I have not seen driving on the swiss and french roads since 18 months.

I have owned a lot of Ferrari’s (there is a photo I posted with a coupe of my Porsche’s and my white 458 spider) and I was a member of Ferrarichat for close to 20 years. In every way other than looks and sound the C8 is a better car than the 458 and that is the truth, but that Ferrari mystic is hard to beat if you have not had a 30 experience (I bought 25 cars from Algar Ferrari) with the brand. People will say that manual gearbox (I owned a few including 360 and 430) is great and it is not in fact it is no where near as good as a Miata or a civic. I know people who own a Ferrari that will admit to what I am saying but most believe their cars have some sort of magic that they can only experience in one.Unfortunately that is all in their heads it is just a machine just like every other car it just costs more.

All the Ferraris I’ve owned were manual and if it taught me anything, it primed me for the 911s. Ferrari manuals are not that great and your timing is something you must achieve in order to get it to go quickly. Taking those lessons to the 911 made me faster in the 911 which is a pretty stout manual. Ferrari is indeed a mystical experience and it took me about a decade to shake it off.

When I look at this comparison, one car, far and away, stands out as the better looking car. Looks (like color) are always "In the eyes of the beholder"

you’ve never owned one. Your statement is incorrect.
