I could get a Ferrari today, and the fun and exclusivity would be great. I would likely delay retirement a year or two to recoup the money. But I’m too cheap to do it when the C8 is here. I like the classic American push-rod cross-plane crank. I grew to love that sound as a kid. I love that I can get parts and labor at a Chevy dealer. I’m sure the reliability is gonna be better. The C8 was a treat I was willing to splurge on. I cringe imagining the wad I’d have to drop to own and maintain tge
Ferrari. I couldn’t even justify a Z06, even if they sold them at MSRP. Overall, I’d rather have the more beautiful Ferrari, but not if I have to pay for it.
Could buy 50-100 of them and this is what you’re doing, corvette forum ?? Lol 😂 Everyone is a Millionaire online, you probably are but it’s still funny.
Im a minor player, there are guys on the Ferrari website that could buy 3000 of them and not notice. You are?
now we’re into the money flexing… it’s all relative. many of us “could” buy a Ferrari and many here own a corvette because it’s affordable, and some that are financed to the max going paycheck to paycheck. None of that matters though; this topic is about a comparative appearance of the two cars pictured.
and as to those here that can afford 50, 500 or 5000 Ferraris… we’re all very impressed.
but then they probably get flack from the multi-million dollar hypercar crowd.
What’s a 300k Ferrari compared to a 2.5m Bugatti? (which btw the Bugatti is butt fugly imo)
I love cars and my Corvette but I draw the line on how much money I spend on anything.
While I can afford a Ferrari I won’t spend that much money on any vehicle no matter how awesome they are. I’ve had many people ask me if my C8 was a Ferrari or a Lambo and I just say yes it is.
I feel thousand dollar purses, 10 thousand dollar watches and 250 thousand dollar cars are things I just can’t and will never buy.
That's good! You've stared reality in the face and you've accepted it. Can't get any better than that....
you are wrong, at least as to Ferrari owners. Most love cars, period. Nice you will leave your heirs enough to buy a Ferrari.,some of us will leave enough for them to buy 50-100 of them.

My finances are really no one’s business and I’m really not interested in anyone else’s situation. I golf with people who are extremely rich and the best part is we never talk money.
I can buy a Farrari
I can Afford a Farrari
While I can afford a Ferrari....
There are a lot of internet millionaires here. Some might actually be millionaires. But, of those who really are millionaires "here", there is a "practicality" factor acquired over life that makes a Ferrari untouchable and it's beyond JUST the money it takes to acquire the car. Everything else, BUT for the money stands in the way. It's a waste of words to bother saying "I can afford a Ferrari". Truth is, those who say this couldn't really own a Farrari even if they won the lottery.
A few weeks ago it was Porsche and now Ferrari...are there that many insecure people still willing to worry about what others drive? Be happy and enjoy what you have...give up the polarization of us versus them. We are all cars guys.

I was taught at a very young age that it is classless and crass to brag about one’s net worth. The only thing more offensive is denigrating someone else while doing it. I would hope to never stoop that low.
I guess some of you don’t understand the nature of the post; I wasn’t comparing the 488 to the C8
(I didn’t put the price and performance caption in the pics)
What I’m saying is that in the picture; (forget what brand the cars are), just looking at the profile, and in particular the awkward air intake and goofy looking door handle, 488 isn’t the better looking car (at least in my opinion) different camera angles could very well change my mind.
That white one is a different model and is absolutely stunning. And the 458 pictured in a previous post is too.
we all know Ferraris are arguably the “standard “ in mid engine design and corvette has always been an affordable imitation inspired by the Italian brand.
I have owned a lot of Ferrari’s (there is a photo I posted with a coupe of my Porsche’s and my white 458 spider) and I was a member of Ferrarichat for close to 20 years. In every way other than looks and sound the C8 is a better car than the 458 and that is the truth, but that Ferrari mystic is hard to beat if you have not had a 30 experience (I bought 25 cars from Algar Ferrari) with the brand. People will say that manual gearbox (I owned a few including 360 and 430) is great and it is not in fact it is no where near as good as a Miata or a civic. I know people who own a Ferrari that will admit to what I am saying but most believe their cars have some sort of magic that they can only experience in one.Unfortunately that is all in their heads it is just a machine just like every other car it just costs more.
I was on Ferrarichat myself. Represented Rob a couple times. 2000yellow360 was my user name. I disagree. I’ve owned a few but my 430 has been a great car. The C8 is a lot more comfortable but isn’t as fast. There are trade offs in the vehicles. Last I heard about 100k in each Ferrari was for the F1.
Of course the Ferrari is more refined and it is hand built. Our CON club goes to Cars on 5th , in Naples every year and there's hundreds of Ferraris at that show and the Ferrari Club people are excellent folks. But the real question is, "Is the Ferrari $266,000.00 better?" And "Is it a car that not only performs but you can drive your wife to the shopping center in?" The secret of the Corvette is even though it can handle and run with a Ferrari it's also had the ability to be docile around town. And maintenance is way less expensive.

I love all the bull **** the Ferrari and Porshe guys post along with how many Ferraris and Porsche's they can afford. I have no idea why they bother with us Chevy guys. We all know Americans can't build supercars, Only Germans and Italians know how to build real sports cars. We know this because we read it all the time here on the Corvette forums.
But the real question is, "Is the Ferrari $266,000.00 better?"

Good argument and good question you pose. We can keep going up the scale.
Is the Ford GT (however you want to value it - MSRP or resale) really worth that much more than a C8? Is the $2.5M Bugatti Chiron $2,420,000 better than a C8? There is same argument about the C8 being worth more than other performance vehicles below its value that perform the same.
On the maintenance, this is pretty much relative to the vehicle's value. I saw the replacement bumper and grille for a Chiron is $85,000. The first ones were failing from bird strikes when driving over 200mph, but the replacement ones can handle it.

Ah! but the cachet is priceless..... even my 35-year-old F-car garners waves, thumbs up, cheers, picture taking, and a zillion questions.... it's nice to be able to walk out to the garage and go: "Do I drive the fun car (C8)? Or do I drive the fun car (328GTB)?"
But, at the end of the day - they're all just cars....
The issue is this: you can get an ok device (car) for not a lot, example the C8. To get the best at anything is usually quite a bit more. The last 10% or so, usually doubles or triples the cost.,that’s why these cars cost a lot more. I’m ignoring the super cars. Most are a joke. You’ll note the Bugatti doesn’t talk about Corning speed. Why? Because it weighs a ton, that’s why. It is very fast, but who in their right mind goes 200 mph on public roads? If they do, they won’t last long.
the C8 works just fine, the Z06 closes the gap a bit. Neither will be as fast as the 296. They don’t need to be for 99.9% of us.
I love cars and my Corvette but I draw the line on how much money I spend on anything.

Too funny. You are lucky my friend as it osbvious that your wife does not have expensive tastes either. A $1,000 purse isn't even in the universe of the LV and Chanel stuff my wife regularly purchases. $10,000 aint a whole lot of high end watch while we are at it. The prices of this stuff have jumped profoundly in the last 5-10 years.

a friend of mine, worth between 4-5b has a wife who shops at a discount store. Watched him grind a Best Buy employee for $20 on a TV. There are folks who once they’ve earned it, keep squeezing until the buffalo *****. It’s one reason why you get progressives screaming for more taxes on the wealthy.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
