Flatbed haulers probably cost a hundred thousand dollars or more. One would think they would carry an assortment of tow hooks.

The tow eye is good for light duty pulling:
"The vehicle may be equipped with a tow eye that can be used to pull the vehicle onto a flatbed car carrier from a flat road surface. Do not use the tow eye to pull the vehicle from snow, mud, or sand."
The tow strap can be used for heavier duty extraction.

I bought both the V strap and Tow hook from ebay as noted above. I am an engineer and agree they both appear to be high quality items. Unless the tow hook has a big void in the casting it will do fine. Likely way stronger than the eye with ring and bolt type.
Side note I was cleaning around and found one in my 2010 Nizzan 370Z tire kit. Yes, whining that a car that costs half as much and will likely see less track use gave me a free tow hook.
DOUBLE side note I just checked my MK8 VW Golf R and it ALSO came with a free one in the tire kit. Now whining that a car that costs 1/3 as much gave me a tow hook.
