Default Z06 Pass

I just passed on an a Z06 allocation today at a local dealer. I was surprised when the dealership called. In a way I'm sick but in another way I'm relieved. Money is not an issue, but it always is. I have a C8 and I love it. I'm not sure this beast is the car for me at least now. I have a low allocation at another high-volume dealership. At this point I dint think 160k was the way to go. But I'm still sick.

I passed on my Z06 allocation last week when the dealer called and said they were charging $50K over MSRP… just can’t/won’t do it! Feel sick too but you already have an extremely capable car. If you aren’t sure, do the Ron Fellows Corvette school, you will be excited all over again over the performance of the car.

Gotta do what's right for your situation. I get feeling a bit sick about it, but you have a C8 and it's an awesome car. Go drive it!

I will most likely pass in my allocation too.
The C8 SR is enough car for how I live.
If I was a track rat every weekend, like I was, the story would be different.

Good choice. $200ish K bucks is a bit steep.

Even with the cash I just cannot justify that kind of money for anything from GM, given the bigger picture (dealers, service, etc.) to myself. And, besides I run more power on the Salt and don't need that of the Z for any reason on the street, for sure.

.. and with all those ADMs, Chevy apparently refuses to give MacMulkin a fair share of Z07s that they'd sell at MSRP.

I wouldn’t even consider a Z06 with its problematic engine, soft tires that pick up everything on the road and brake dust covered wheels. Also the stock C8 has a better front, where as the Z06 looks frumpy.

I’m not clear, was the dealer charging an ADM over MSRP? Then nothing to be sick about…no way I’d pay over MSRP (well, maybe $5k). If it was at MSRP, yeah, I’d be sick.

The LT6 has had no more problems than the Stingray LT2 (4 or 5 out of 2500 units). The tires on Z06s that customers can actually buy (the non-Z07) has the same PS4S ZP tire compound (different sizes though) as the Stingray. The Z06 standard brakes do not dust any more than the Stingray Z51 and my CCBs dust way less. Looks are opinions and many like the Z06 style overall better than the Stingray.

Ask yourself- what are you getting for your extra $40K -$100K? It is the law of diminishing returns.
You could add a boat or muscle car to your toys instead or INVEST !

Invest? I follow the admonition of Robert Heinlein in his book _The Notebooks of Lazarus Long_ - "Budget the luxuries first."

I think you made the right decision. At MSRP its still a maybe for me because I already have the C8 I wanted. For 160 you're approaching a new set of vehicles and Id rather have a C8 for one third of that and buy something else with it.

Why not a 1LZ coupe at about $113,000? You don't have to load it up. I'll be going from a 3LT HTC to a 1LZCoupe. Probably will cost me 18 grand.

I too passed. Could not justify the HP. And the car looks just like a stingray to 99% of people.

I’m having the same challenges with the eray, as I’m in a decent spot to order one of those.

Guess I’m getting too old! Theres just no where to exercise these cars and the penalties if you get tagged are steep.

Glad I grew up when I did when you could get away with a spirited drive.

There are significant visual differences between the two that should be immediately obvious to any sports car enthusiast, especially Corvette enthusiasts. Do you care what it looks like to 99% of the people or to you? That being said if it looks too similar to you that’s understandable.

There’s a steep premium for the Z06 that wont be worth it to many. Mine priced out at $154k but it’s a HTC. My 3LT Stingray coupe was just shy of $100k. It’s worth it to me but for those that aren’t obsessed with the NA FPC engine, the Stingray offers a compelling package for the price. A true value.

Passed on mine in December when the ADM of $50k was added to the MSRP! I already had a 2LT HTC on the way and I have my 2016 Z. I could not justify the additional ADM.
