I am a big fan of PPF since I had an SLK350 done with 3M in 2005 and when removed in 2020 the paint was like new but the PPF had a lot of abuse. I am not convinced about ceramic. A friend bought his C8 same week as mine and he paid $800 for ceramic coating. I used Turtle wax Hybrid $15 because I used it on CRV and reduced wash/dry time. They both made the cars easier to wash but so far thats it. I reapply Hybrid every 6 months and that takes about an hour. We went to Corvette car show with about 200 corvettes and tried to guess which ones were wax, ceramic or Hybrid and could not. I think I would invest in having a pro ceramic coat if the car was outside a lot but it is not.
Turtle Wax Ceramic Hybrid works perfectly for all my vehicles. I clay bar then apply this ceramic wax about every 6 months. inexpensive and doing it yourself makes you appreciate how good your vehicle looks. Just put aside a 1/2 day on a weekend and do it in the shade. I guess if you are not a “car guy” at heart and have more money to burn and don’t have any spare time, go to the professionals. Everyone comments on how my car looks professionally done.
Turtle Wax Ceramic Hybrid ... Just put aside a 1/2 day ...
4 hours? that must include finding buckets, sponge and cloths and wash/dry/claybar/Hybrid. Since I started using Hybrid my wash and especially dry time has gone down to under an hour and the Hybrid just sprays on/wipes off in an hours or less so is your claybar 2 hours? Or .5 hour claybar and 1.5 hours admiring the shine !!!
A couple hints: I bought a microfibre drying towel that is 24" x 36". Not available in US but similar to The Big One Waffle-Weave Microfiber Drying Towel | The Rag Company
The trick is you need to wet it first. WOW !! I wish I knew about this 20 years ago. Next trick is if you don't like wringing or can't then just buy 3 (or however many required) and just let them hang dry.
