Was wondering if there is a single brand or so that is considered the "best" for ceramic coatings? I'm in Chicagoland and see a lot of places charge around 1000-1500 for ceramic coatings with various products. I'll be picking up my car from Ciocca in a month or so and also see Ciocca does ceramic coatings in-house? They charge $1700 (a bit on the higher end) and use XPEL Fusion Plus.

Good morning! The 'best' coating is really something that depends on a variety of factors; the real question is not "What is the best coating?" but rather "What is the best coating FOR YOU?".
Is ease of application important? Does cost matter? Do you want something that will last a year or two or longer? Do you seek a candy-gloss appearance or something that is a touch richer in looks? Does it matter to you if the coating is slick to the touch or not? Do you mind applying more than 1 layer or would you prefer a single layer coating? All of these are considerations in finding 'your' best coating. "What's the best coating" asked in a general sense is akin to asking "What's the best color?"...so many variables to consider. And so many great products to choose from!
Here at ESOTERIC, performance + ease of use is the key to a great coating.
If looking to do it yourself after proper prep (the key to a great outcome but well within the abilities of an interested hobbyist), the below are some great choices depending on your wants/needs and are quite easy to apply:
Perhaps the easiest ceramic coating to apply; great performance, 18-24 months effective life w 2 layers: Kamikaze Miyabi 2.0
Excellent ease of use, 24-36 months effective life, great luster and also great for plastic trim; a single layer application: Kamikaze ISM 3.0
The ultimate in luster and performance w/ some limited swirl reducing capabilities built in, also great for trim: Kamikaze Zipang 2.0
For a bit more depth of appearance and increased longevity & durability, both ISM 3.0 and Zipang 2.0 can be used w/ Miyabi 2.0 as a base coat as well.

I can vouge for Gtechniq, My detailer uses it on all our customer wrap jobs as well as all of his paint corrections he does. We've both had great luck with it. I've also personally had experience with Kenzo and System X, both great products if properly applied.
I had the C8 professionally done with Adams Advanced Graphene. Very Happy. I'm doing the Sprite myself with Adams Graphene Spray-On. The first sections I did without using the UV light... (I got lazy).. Then I got curious and took that light down to the car... Boy did I miss some spots, and the application wasn't even. For the next section(s) I turned out the lights in garage and used the UV light in one hand and the applicator in the other. The job was so much better!. Also, if doing it yourself, use and applicator pad not just a microfiber cloth, as you can soak the entire side of an applicator but you'll miss spots with just a cloth.

I had my done by a shop in Plainfield/Naperville area for a very good price. He used system x diamond with a lifetime warranty.
I'm in the fiber industry. They offer lifetime warranties on wear- and have never paid on one. See all the disclaimers. Sorry to be a cynic but $1700 for a wax job is a hose job.
It's like your tire wear warranty what a joke.
I'm beginning to think this site is a sophisticated site for advertising expensive BS.
I clay barred mine and ceramic coated for $50. But I have more time on my hands than $$$$.
I’ve used the Chemical Guys Hydroslick SI02 Ceramic Coating Hyperwax. $40 and easy to apply. Maybe not as good as the higher priced stuff, but looks good to me
It's too easy to buff and fluff with wax once a year which is sufficient for a car that lives in the garage. I would be interested in film to reduce paint chips.
I am a big fan of PPF since I had an SLK350 done with 3M in 2005 and when removed in 2020 the paint was like new but the PPF had a lot of abuse. I am not convinced about ceramic. A friend bought his C8 same week as mine and he paid $800 for ceramic coating. I used Turtle wax Hybrid $15 because I used it on CRV and reduced wash/dry time. They both made the cars easier to wash but so far thats it. I reapply Hybrid every 6 months and that takes about an hour. We went to Corvette car show with about 200 corvettes and tried to guess which ones were wax, ceramic or Hybrid and could not. I think I would invest in having a pro ceramic coat if the car was outside a lot but it is not.
