Tough crowd on this subject. The Porsche guys were saying the same stuff until they ended up happily buying one of the Porsche cuvs for the better half…now these guys drive their 911 when they are alone and a cayenne or macan when traveling with their family…everybody is happy,
porsche was real real happy as the Porsche cuv profits saved the company from going bankrupt.
just things to keep in mind.
it’s just business.
+1 I seriously doubt, in spite of all the whining and threats in this thread, that anyone here is going to refuse to buy a Corvette C8 or C9 because there's a Corvette SUV sitting on the showroom floor.
My next door neighbor is a Porsche nut. He has a 911 Turbo S and a Cayenne. He says the Cayenne is the best "car" he's ever driven. Go figure.
EVERY car manufacturer out there is making SUVs, some making multiple models.
The world doesn't need another SUV type model, it just doesn't. And it needs an SUV with a Corvette badge even less.
I understand those who want to buy a US made SUV, even a GM-made SUV. Good for you. You have multiple models to choose from Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac. Surely, that's enough?
Will it be a cheap marketing trick to just re-label an existing SUV? The Big Three is famous for putting lipstick on a hog. For example, the Mustang II, the Cadillac Cimarron. Any others?

yes. Everyone makes one because it’s the largest car segment (US at least). It will be like Porsche. Especially if corvette breaks off into its own brand as rumored.
It would be Corvette Stingray - car we know and love
Corvette SUV Name (partial to Manatee)
and Corvette Sedan Name (also rumored - partial to Manta Ray)
I would love it. For when it’s snowy out or need to drive with more than 1 person.
If it looks anything like this I’d love it
100% agree. If GM wants to build en electric SUV, let them select a new name. Use some originality and don’t bastardize an iconic brand like Ford did with the Mustang.
The SUV line saved Porsche and allows them to build great sports cars. If you want to save the brand sometimes you need to build what sells most. Would I like any sport SUV...no. Not personally, but if it keeps real sports cars afloat then build them/sell them.
It may be a fiscal requirement for GM to do so but that is a guess on my part.
If Corvette ends up being its own brand, then an SUV is a must.
but Corvette's one vehicle model, not a line-up... as it should remain

the point being made here is that Porsche didn't call their SUVs "911s"; they gave the unique models unique names rather than watering down their flagship.

sure you can; i brung home a tree from the nursery in the back of my C5.
I think it's a good move IF GM makes the sensible decision to have Corvette as its own brand not under Chevrolet, just as Volkswagen has done with Porsche. That way people can stop knocking the car because "iTs jUsT a ChEvY".
They can be sold/serviced at select existing Chevrolet and Cadillac dealerships, like the BMW|Mini joint dealerships. Pick the existing dealerships with exemplary techs and service.
We have a new Porsche Cayenne on a ship headed to Houston. It is our third.
It is hard to convey how much better the handling is than domestic SUV’s. Any domestic offering that can get close to it for a lot less money would be appreciated.
I'd like to see Corvette remain a single ship line myself but not at the expense of doing away with it..... what is the avg. age of the owners here? GM has to appeal and sell to a younger crowd.
