Sadly, the high performance SUV/CUV ship has already sailed and Corvette/GM missed the boat. All they can come up with now is an E powered SUV. Before GM does that, I'd suggest they study the recent marketing exploits of Anheuser-Busch and find out what the reception of such a vehicle would be before they try it. If they had launched a big V8 Corvette SUV, that would have been wildly successful, but they didn't and I think it's too late to try.
I consider it embarrassing that Ferrari will launch an SUV before GM/Corvette.
I really don't want GM to dilute the Corvette name with an SUV. That said, I love my MB GLC AMG. I love everything about it except the nearest Dealer for service is 1 1/2 hours away. It would be nice to have American alternatives. Thankfully, it has only been back twice for annual oil changes. I am sold on the all wheel drive SUV for a daily driver. But that is just my opinion and we will all have to wait and see what GM does.
Think beyond yourself. GM needs to use every asset they have to generate profits.
ford hit a home run with the mustang Mach E. Chevy needs to follow suit
the Chinese are coming with electric vehicles that carry a profit margin of as little as $44 a vehicle. The Chinese only goal is to keep their citizens in provinces working. This is going to be a bloodbath first in Europe and then the United States.
brand identity will among the many tools American manufacturers can use to fend off the influx of extremely well priced Chinese electric vehicles..
I suggest pulling out all the stops to generate profits for the general because if bankruptcy occurs the corvette research and development wil suffer.
id rather have a corvette awd cuv ev that generates massive profits that funds the R &D to develop the best two seat corvette ever.
ferrari , Lamborghini, Porsche all have generated massive profits for their sports cars to be further developed.
that sports car manufacturer combination is creating massive profits. To miss that gravy train would be a foolish mistake.
thinking outside the box, outside previous norms is essential to remain in business.
Even rolls Royce and Bentley are producing cuvs these days and I believe they are selling quite well.
when it comes to generating profits leave no stone unturned.
It might work if Corvette becomes a sub-brand within GM and the SUV produced by Corvette has a new name. The Corvette brand halo car could be the Stingray or Zora or something else while other varients fall under the Corvette umbrella. That would not dilute the existing model. Just a thought.
Chevy only sells one car besides the corvette and currently it’s the Malibu.
I don’t believe adding a corvette branded vehicle like the Ferrari Purosangue would dilute the corvette brand image if it it was a blistering quick ev version similar to the Ferrari Purosangue styling.
the Ferrari Purosangue has been a huge success and has not diluted the brand image but rather enchanted it.
the corvette nameplate is so powerful. So iconic in American culture in my opinion it does not need to be separated as a sub division from the Chevrolet division.
I think the money, the profit would benefit the nameplate so much we as 2 seat corvette enthusiasts would benefit immensely with further research and development funding.
porsche, Lambo, Ferrari and even ford have benefited from expanding iconic nameplates to increase profits and come close to guaranteeing success in the marketplace.
Lambo sales have exploded, Ferrari sold out their purosangue, Porsche was saved from the brink of bankruptcy and all their sports cars with two seats are still much sought after and faster than ever before.
change is good. Utilizing all assets is necessary for future viability and massive profits.
we all win of the corvette racks in more profits and sales.
Tough crowd on this subject. The Porsche guys were saying the same stuff until they ended up happily buying one of the Porsche cuvs for the better half…now these guys drive their 911 when they are alone and a cayenne or macan when traveling with their family…everybody is happy,
porsche was real real happy as the Porsche cuv profits saved the company from going bankrupt.
Theres no need to defend the idea; if it will make $$$ you can bet your bottom $ GM will do it including a corvette-branded performance luxury crossover (baby Escalade V) that can stick it to those farting X3M and X5Ms littering the roads
All Corvettes, from '53 #1 to the C8's that will be built today have one thing in common.....2 seats.
Anything else should never be called a Corvette....
While I agree... GM experimented and built examples. the 1963 version comes to mind as an example.
The real issue at hand is it's a LOT more difficult to live with a 2 passenger car in modern times. My Dad had a 1969 Big Block back in the day. With my Mom and 3 kids. And it was their only vehicle. You would get buried under the jail if you tried that in 2023 yet back then no one batted an eye. Corvettes on the past were daily drivers for people. Some people had an additional car, but many.... heck most... through the C4 era even were people's cars. With the new laws and enforcement things have shifted from the C5-C8 days and people have daily drivers and Corvettes in their garages. Many people aren't like me sitting on 7 cars. I couldn't afford 7 cars when I was younger but daily drove my Vette before I had kids. Post kids I couldn't do it for a long time so my only option was a different vehicle....... if a Corvette SUV was an option that would have been what I got.
