Brought my 2023 HTC C8 in for first oil service along with trans filter change. I have the car for one year. Prior to service, the car was fine. No leaks. After service I noticed some , what I thought was oil on the floor under the car. I thought this might be normal as some residual oil was just clearing out. After 5 days of this I returned to the dealer to have it checked. Loose filter, loose plug? I was told now the transmission is leaking and Chevy does not repair transmissions. Takes 5 days to get a new transmission. Then x days to install. 2 questions?
How did this happen, what caused it and 2, How does this impact the value of my car?
does this transmission replacement end up on my car fax even through it was done by an authorized Chevy dealer??
It does sound suspicious that you didn't notice the leak until after the service. There have been instances where the DCT fluid filter was leaking due to improper installation.
GM will give the dealer technician exact steps to follow before they replace the transmission. I just hope the dealer takes care of you in a timely manner.
The external canister filter cover has super low torque specs. Easy to over torque and damage, but it is a serviceable part without replacing the DCT.
My guess is they botched the external filter cover.
You should ask to see tracing powder pics to show you where the leak is coming from.

And or take it to another dealer for a second opinion.
Sorry, i know this is a old thread.
I just found oil residue and a wet pan. No oil on garage floor. this weekend. I'm 100 miles from home... is it safe to drive it home and then to the dealership next week? What a bummer. Picked up March 23.
thx
Could be from someone that spilled oil when filling engine oil too, was the oil more on the driver side? From what I have seen, several owners that have had porosity issues had no residue on their garage floor, but the pan was covered in a light film. Presumably it is getting pulled out when driving, but others have had major amounts of oil and some on the ground under car as well.
No idea to know how much DCTF is left until pressures drop enough for a sensor / problem code to be thrown. There is a fill level check on the side where level can be checked as well as fluid filled, but this isn't easy to accomplish while on the road. Best to take it to a Chevy dealer.
This is the problem area that has previously been identified:
It's in the deep recessed area behind the output shaft on drivers side. The yellow highlighted areas are where you may have DCTF running down.

I was in a similar situation, never noticed any leaks on the garage floor, and I looked all the time as I had an antifreeze smell when I parked it in the garage after driving it. Took it in for its first oil change and they showed me where it was leaking. They did the dye test and said its coming from the oil pan and the rear main seal. That was May 30th and its been sitting at the dealer ever since waiting on parts. They have been told to replace the oil pan, which is on national backorder. I opened a case with Chevrolet customer service, once it hits 14 days without parts they assing a CSR to the case, they have been updating me every week, but its the same update, no ETA on parts. You're likely ok to drive as the leaks aren't heavy leaks, I'm sure you could make it the 100 miles, I put 1000 miles on my car with it leaking
Engine oil leak at least you can carry some extra bottles of Mobil "SuperLeak" and top off the reservoir, but a DCTF leak is another issue altogether.
1) You have no sort of dipstick to read the level
2) Nothing to fill it with that doesn't involve using a lift, unless you use the breather element method like I have heard Ron Fellows uses. Problem is, you have now way to know the fluid level and you may overfill.

thx brother! Good luck with yours too! I made it home and it drives fine, no error codes or shifting issues. Hopefully something simple.

thx for the info! Hoping that it's old oil from a crummy oil change. I could definitely deal with that. Appointment on the 16th so I'll update soon.
I had a tx leax on my 2020 (low vin) liw miles, resealed, 9 months later with less than another 1,000 Mike's leak again. That's when GM decided to change vs reseal transmissions. Been great since. 2,000 miles later.
