Damn, was hoping that the wheel cracking issue was a thing of the past. GM should and could do better than this.

The C7 and C8 wheel issues are totally different. The C7 was basically limited to the wider wheels of the Grand Sport/Z06. The deeper barrel was not strong enough. This was a design flaw (my terminology, not GM's). The C8 wheel issue is a manufacturing defect, not a design defect. In fact, they strengthened the barrel on the C8 wheels. The C7 problem was very widespread. The C8 problem is limited and dealers were notified to inspect 2020-2021 wheels for porosity whenever the vehicle is brought in for service and to replace wheels if necessary. Based on the article linked above, it appears the issue resurfaced on 2022's and they were held from shipping until resolved. It appears the OP has an issue, but this does not appear to be the same porosity issue from the earlier C8 years.

For the C8 they added what Tadge called a band where you would expect at the hub barrel interface. Note it's NOT a separate piece they leave the barrel thicker in that area in the flow form process.

I have 2 sets of Tridents, SG and Black. No issues with either set.

How about a bigger picture showing the entire wheel. Assume you didn't abuse it or you would have mentioned that.

I have a 2020 with Tridents and no problems. In our club there are three other C8s with Tridents and no wheel problems.
