Reports are 2024 will have a draw down type latch on the Frunk. Logic would dictate that this should be similar footprint/mounting to 2023 or earlier Vettes, and the latch has electric to it currently. With that, I am pondering if this could be swapped in to older C8s.
Any insights, part #s, anyone can find or knowledge on this appreciated. If this is price feasible, I will be updating mine!
Just one more thing to break or cause problems. There are already so many others and now they've added how many more things? I would've like adaptive cruise but they went ahead and put the front sonar in for emergency braking and didn't add adaptive cruise? Typical for gm.
Unlikely it can be retrofitted. The rear pulldown is controlled by one of the C8's many computer modules, the BCM (Body Control Module). It's not just a simple on/off switch. Assuming the new front pulldown is also controlled by the BCM (very likely), in addition to all the parts you'd need a software update to the BCM to be able to activate and control it.

I agree. You would also be dealing with removal of the old latches which might be detected by the car and put it into limp mode.
I would have been happy if GM put the 2 little frunk bumpers in my 23.
Just ordered 2 for a cost of $20 delivered. Most discounted sellers get $14 each.

I agree - most likely not an easy, or inexpensive, retrofit to make, if it can be done.

I disagree with most of the comments. Anything can be done with these cars depending on how much effort you want to put into it. People have added mag ride same as factory. An option of the soft close frunk is very feasible.

Anything can be done but it is not always cost-effective or practical. The people who say it can't be done are rightfully assuming that the expense would be far more than the function is worth. If you want to disregard cost and don't feel like waiting 6-12 months for a new C8, why not just order all the parts from your local dealer and assemble yourself. Cost many times the MSRP but you will have proven that anything can be done.

There's a lot of people that work on cars as a hobby and I'm one of them. Time in the shop and challenges is what I look forward to. Proud to say I have a 22 C8 for less than half of window sticker when it was new.
