Default C8 Infotainment Screen Protector

Just wondering if anyone has installed a screen protector on the infotainment panel. Looked at a few screen protectors for sale on Amazon but the comments are not that great!

Is it a waste of time to install a screen protector?

Thanks

Default yesterday seems so far away......

Phone screens in the dark ages were prone to scratching. And screen savers prevented that. Today screens are hard as hard is and plastic covers are not necessary. They are a solution looking for a problem to solve.

2.5 years 22,600 miles and I still have the OEM plastic on my screen. Carry over from my wife never pulling the plastic off of her cell phone screen. Annoying at first but i don’t even see it now.

Saw a customer post on Amazon about a screen protector that he removed, and the film left a crease on the screen! Sounded like his workmanship.

You are putting a piece of vinyl on top of glass….how could it leave a crease when removed?

Any screen protector that is made for a C7 will cover EXACTLY the area that is touched inside the surrounding black frame. Looks like it is made for the C8. I had a left over one from my 2019 and used it for a while, but prefer the glossy look of the finish on the new screen so I removed it. I don't touch it frequently and keep it clean with a damp microfiber lens cloth. No issues and looks like new.

I used screen protech. Installed a few days ago and no complaints. It also comes with a tach cover along with the infotainment. The anti glare works which helps with HTC.

The infotainment protector also extends passed the push to start so it looks seamless

Are folks having issues with vehicle display screens that require a screen protector? Besides by C8, I have two other vehicles, both 2017, with touch screens (one Chevy and one Ford) and have had no issues with the display screen. Before that I had a Honda Ridgeline that racked up 100k mile and had no issues with that touch screen. I also use my 2 year old lap top with a touch screen every day and have no issues with the screen. I do use a protective cover on my iPhone - I have seen broken and damaged screens on those - because they get dropped and subjected all sorts of hazards. But that cover does not "stick" to the screen - rather it is clear plastic that is in a case that fits over the phone.

Also, I don't know exactly how the touch screen is constructed. They are typically glass, but the final surface may not be glass, and you are putting the protector on whatever that final layer is. I'm aware that folks have used them with no issue, but I would have concerns about putting something over the screen - especially when I have had no issues without the protector.

The infotainment guide does provide some cleaning instructions:

"Cleaning High Gloss Surfaces
and Vehicle Information and
Radio Displays

For vehicles with high gloss
surfaces or vehicle displays, use a
microfiber cloth to wipe surfaces.
Before wiping the surface with the
microfiber cloth, use a soft bristle
brush to remove dirt that could
scratch the surface. Then use the
microfiber cloth by gently rubbing to
clean. Never use window cleaners
or solvents. Periodically hand wash
the microfiber cloth separately,
using mild soap. Do not use bleach
or fabric softener. Rinse thoroughly
and air dry before next use."

I understand for a cell phone. I don't understand for the infotainment screen. What are you protecting it from? I don't think you can drop it or put it in your pocket.
