After all the great advice I received from my questions on the forum I pulled the trigger and ordered a ‘24 C8 Coupe….Riptide Blue. To my astonishment, the salesman later called me to say my build would be bumped up and I could expect delivery in about two months!!.The reason for this is quite interesting and I’ll share this in a moment. I initially chose the “Carbon Flash Painted Al w Machined Edge” wheels. After days of contemplating this I decided the “Glass Black Fused Al” wheel option looked better. I gave this change to my salesman who initially said there was no problem. A few hours later I received a phone call from him stating that there was a “Sourcing Problem” adding these wheels. Only 10% of builds going forward could have this option. This he told me bumped the car build in front of me out. Hearing this I decided to go forward anyway with the first wheel selection. Hopefully no other options I chose will “bump me out”. Has anyone else hear this about the wheel option issue??
Well, I have several thoughts here…but the “sourcing problem” is likely another way of saying a certain option is “on constraint”. Said differently, the factory can only accept a certain number of orders with a specific option.
That said, allocations for the next order cycle were released today, meaning dealers were told how many Stingrays and Z06s they could plan to order and enter into the order system. Constraints for those orders (meaning the options that are in limited supply) will be announced next Thursday.
Your dealer is either working within the confines of an old order that someone abandoned but they can still change to your spec (someone may refute this- a deadline may have recently passed rendering all orders entered lately un-changeable, I’m not sure) or they are guessing at the constraints they’ll receive next week.
I was sad not to find the (gray/polished) Trident wheels anymore. Does anybody know if a dealer can still order them, even though they don't show up on the configurator? And then, GM raised the freaking prices FIVE GRAND. Geez. And of course, no more '23s, which would have been my preference, due to the Trident wheels, plus nav (not that subscription BS '24s have). Oh well.
A neat thing I noticed if you get the Jake center caps--they have a silver rim. So you get two concentric silver rims, one on the wheel's lip and a smaller one around the center cap. I've had gloss black wheels on other cars and kind of like how the Carbon Flash isn't completely black. All the metallic makes it reflect back some color such as the blue in the sky. It's like a black with some flop (color shifting properties).

You can buy used Tridents in the classifieds here or elsewhere. BE CAREFUL and only purchase from someone who has been around here a while. A lot of hit-n-run scammers will join a forum and post items for sale to steal your money.
