Default Condensor protectors

So Chevy charges $425.00 for these. Is there an after market version that is good and perhaps a bit cheaper?

I went w/Customs Car Grills 4-piece for around $100. I just wanted to get something on there quick, and planned to upgrade later as I wasn’t thrilled about the zip ties, but I was able to position them so only 3 were visible on each side, and I mean visible by stooping down and looking closely. I honestly forgot about them and have moved on…

I put the Billfaro ones off amazon for $79.95 on mine, and they fit great. If I bought another C8 tomorrow, I'd buy the same ones again.

I also went with Billfario. There are others for under $100. Make sure they don't have rough cut edges!

No sharp edges!!!

Did the same they installed fine and do the job. Can't see how a piece of screen is worth $500 from GM or some of these other places... They are simply figuring that if you can afford a Vette, you will pay stupid money for $19 worth of steel mesh...

I bought these too. Nice product...horrible instructions. I wouldn't pay the $$$$ GM is charging.

That mesh looks much too fine. Here are the factory parts and notice the size of the mesh:

If the mesh is too fine, it will block too much airflow....not good.

$500 for mesh screens is nuts.

Well, GM was concerned with installing mesh from the factory, because they said it does limit airflow and could impact cooling. Watch a video with one of the corvette engineers, discussing that...

Here is the set that I installed:

As someone who has designed oil cooling systems for race cars and has experience incorporating metal mesh systems to protect oil coolers, I actually know what I am talking about. So, please, keep showing us all your ignorance...

let's see
4000 mile road trip through desert heat, tracked my car in heat and drag raced in heat and never came near overheating. I disagree with these causing an airflow issue. Not ignorant just facts.

I was the one that mentioned overheating, and I was quoting a video of one of the corvette engineers saying that in an interview, when asked why GM didn't incorporate screens in the first place... He was talking to how the DCT fluid has a very narrow window of operating temp and that it was sensitive to that and so they didn't want to reduce airflow to the coolers...

Chevy seems to agree with me that restricted airflow can be a problem:

...and that is with the Factory grille guards that flow quite a bit more air than the cheap Amazon version you use.
