sshallen, Thanks for reminding us that the images we see in mirrors are not real. How could anyone believe that what they see in a mirror is real? I think we are seeing something from the great beyond when we look into mirrors. Don't trust them.
Now wait a dang minute, at least his hands are CLEAN....
TLDR all the comments. I thought I would need wide angle blind spots mirrriors as well. However thre is a welath of information on the net on how to set the sideview mirror and you know I have no problem in a htc with the stock mirrors if you can see the sides of your car they are not set outboard enough.
The major problem with the driver's side mirror is that it's actually pretty far out from the side of the car as compared to every other car I've driven and that increased distance reduces your field of view and that reduction no matter how you adjust it is always there and that is the blind spot area that a convex mirror fixes.
These are pictures of cars in my “blind spot”. Note the blind spot indicator is not lit up even as the car is clearly in my “blind spot” and doesn’t light up when the car is almost even with my bumper. Past that point it will light up but far too late!
It’s a good thing I have my mirrors adjusted correctly and have the Rear Camera Mirror together they eliminate my blind spots. And because of the Rear Camera Mirror I can see cars approaching a long distance away. Still, the indicators should pick up cars in one’s blind spot
Maybe I need to bring it in to have my sensors check because the manual say, “This zone starts at approximately the middle of the vehicle and goes back 16 ft in the other lanes!

I don't think there is anything wrong with your mirrors because I've found the same thing. You get the alert when the car is essentially beside you. Maybe those 16 feet are new born baby feet.
No need for convex mirrors if your mirrors are adjusted properly to begin with. Most people don't know how to properly adjust their mirrors. If you can see the side of your car while sitting normally in your drivers seat, they aren't adjusted properly (even though this seems to be how majority of people adjust them). You should be able to rely on your mirrors as it takes longer to physically turn your head to look over your shoulder.

If that is the intended activation point it is a hazard. No make that dangerous! The blind spot mirrors in our SUV flash on when a car is 6ft+ behind us.

Here's some info directly from NHTSA website:
The point of my post is not about properly adjusted mirrors it’s about the useless dangerous blind spot warning system in the C8.

I wasn't replying to you directly or I would have quoted your original post. I was merely providing information for those who don't understand how to adjust their mirrors properly.
