It has been said that you may loose some turn-in feel and of coarse the security of run flat feature. Flat tires don't scare me, 44 years of driving and riding motorcycle I have never been broke down with a flat, I have never put a spare tire on. As soon as these oem tires wear past 50% tread I'll be installing the DWS06's
Thanks for this post. I have been researching and trying to figure out what I want for my 2022 Stingray. Nail in one of my tires 8 months ago and of course you cannot patch a run flat. $625 for a new tire. Now i have another nail which is just causing a slow leak. I have to put about 4 psi a week now to keep driving. Not terrible, but im going to replace all 4 with a good non run flat tire. I would rather be able to repair then keep paying for an expensive run flat for a damn nail.

Run flat tires can be repaired as long as the nail/screw damage is not within 1" of the sidewall.

While I have had damaged tires that could not be replaced, most "leaks" were able to be dealt with on the road with an inflator to get home and then patched. That said, my last nail was too near the sidewall to be repaired on my 345/25/21 ZP Michelin tire on my C8Z, replacement was $700+ at Discount Tire.

Wow, good to know. The Chevy dealer and Tires Plus location said they would not repair because the manufacturer doesn't recommend. Plus it was not a large nail and not near the side wall. Sounds like they just want to profit off new tire. I will call around and see if i can find someone willing to repair on this.

If you go to the Michelin web site they tell exactly what can be repaired and how it is to be repaired. They make the tires that come on our Corvettes, they know.

In 64 years of driving, I have never had a blow out on any tire. And that goes back to the days of really inferior bias ply tires. All flats have been slow leaks caused by a screw, nail, etc. With TPS you will know very quickly if a tire is leaking air before it's a problem. For almost everywhere, air pumps at gas stations are nearby. But to be safe, everyone should have a small battery powered air compressor in their car even if it has run flat tires installed. If you have a slow leak, you just pump it up to say 45 psi and continue on your way while monitoring the air pressure. Now this approach is for the people that actually live in the real world and not the worry wart world.
