Is this really a problem? I mean, whats the big deal using your key fob to lock your car, thats partly what is was made for.
There are discussions around the internet forums about having your keyfob cloned remotely by the bad guys when used to open or close the doors. I don't really know this is true though.
It makes no sense to me that when you press the lock button on the door panel before leaving the car, that the mirrors don't fold in when you have it set to fold in when locked. Who wants to have to pull out their key fob to lock just so the mirrors fold. Bad programming by Chevy!

Hmm, my Two C7 and now Two C8 Vettes lock soon after I close the door. On the C8's mirrors fold when it locks. My FOB never out of my pocket! The buttons outside of two C8's easy to reach and work fine to open Frunk and Truck!
Yes, but I’m talking about locking the door using the lock button on the inside panel. Yours is because it sounds like you have passive locking enabled, so you just exit the car and the car locks itself allowing the mirrors to fold. I didn’t want to do that as when I park the car in the garage, I don’t want the car to lock itself and have to bring out the key fob when wanting to get in my car for something in the garage. If it was done right the mirrors would fold no matter how you lock the car, just like our other car does (and any other car out there that I know of).

Yep, my wife has me set up her BMW that way for the few times it's an issue when she is in the garage without the FOB.
Frankly PIA as I am used to just leaving my Vette and have it lock! Worse she sometimes has "stuff" inside her car in front of the consol. So when I leave it at a store etc and forget to lock (in that case BMW does have a spot on all 4 external door handles you can press) car is unlocked! Oh well her car and I do as she wishes.
For the Vette (and prior Vettes) no big deal getting my Vette FOB when I am in the garage the few times, I don't have it in my pocket. When I leave the house, wallet goes in my rear paints pocket, FOB in the front pocket as a matter of habit!!
Phone app, or set it to auto-lock. There's no button like found on some brands or models.
I don't use the auto-lock feature because I am forever going out to the garage and doing something to the C8. If I had the auto-lock activated, I'd probably ALWAYS have to make two trips because I would forget to bring the fob. Just like it ALWAYS takes two trips to the car to retrieve my phone when I use the wireless phone charger behind the seat.
Andybump- this is how I locked the C7 that I used as a trade in on the C8 that I now own. Sort of like pushing the lock button on cars 50 years ago and then closing the door while holding the outside door handle open.
My car doesn't passivly lock when I walk away. I use the keyfob. But you don't need to use the keyfob to unlock the car. If you have the keyfob on your person just walk up and open the door. It unlocks when you touch the handle.
