We have a pool which means we have chlorine tabs for the filter. They are 3” x 1” and smell strong…. I put one behind each wheel when the cars go into the back of the garage for winter and we have never had a problem. If you know anyone with a pool they will have a big tub of them… anything that goes near the wheels will be repelled by the smell.
Be careful with the chlorine. Back in the day, I stored superchlorinator In my garage under my workbench. All my exposed tools started to rust.

I place Bounce Dryer sheets - one in engine area, one in luggage area front and ack and one on floor of each side of car. Have done this in a closed garage for decades over the course of 4 Vettes and have had zero issues.

I put one tab behind each wheel on my garage cement floor and never have a problem. If there was water anywhere it would be different but as long as it’s dry…. I don’t put them in the car…. They don’t touch the car….

They come in big plastic tubs…. never had a problem in 30 years but I do keep the lid on and store the tub in a dry place…

Thanks for the feedback though…

Moth ***** under the car and dryer sheets on the floor mats will do the trunk during long-term winter storage.

I don't know about @Ed Cordes but I put my dryer sheets in a year ago and haven't switched them out since. I only put in one sheet under each floor mat and like Ed have zero issues. I think I'm on my second set since September 2021. They hold their smell pretty well and keep the interior smelling fresh.

I was thinking of adding them to my engine bay where i keep a microfiber towel sprayed with peppermint oil. I know mice have super sensitive noses but the following weekend when i go smell the MF towel there's almost no smell. Or a very faint smell of peppermint so i know the smell diminishes quickly in the engine bay. Mind you my car is parked outside.

That's why i was debating on adding fabric sheets and just changing every weekend as well.

Damn Squirrells living inside my wheel well.. Fortunately, no damage to wires .. May need to buy one of those inflatable bubbles to keep them out.

You got mice, not squirrels. Get a Mouseblocker device. Problem solved.

I like to get them before they get in the garage or house. At first I used bait stations, but then read it may harm the owls who eat the poisoned mice (each owl can eat two or three rats and mice a night), so I switch to traps. I bought a rural mailbox at Home Depot, and put a snap trap in the back. I bait it with walnut pieces, and put small pieces at the entrance of the mailbox as a nice "treat". If the entrance pieces are gone, I can pretty well be sure there is a mouse in the trap.

I also put traps in the garage. Some mice are smart enough to avoid snap traps. For them I have an electronic trap also baited with walnuts.

For cars parked outside, I put a light underneath them. Mice are mostly nocturnal, and don't like the light. I also use dryer sheets.

This year was particularly bad with mice. I killed two or three a week, and sometimes two or three in a day.

Had tree rats tearing up my pool screens, getting in the attic and eating my garden plants. So why not, with a pneunatic 22 pellet rifle baged over 50 critters in a 6 month period. Problem solved & lots of target practice..
I know, not for everybody....

Neighbors are too close and luckily my dogs keep the squirrels mostly out of the yard.

It’s a funny the odd time a squirrel leaps…. And misses the landing target….. which causes all hell to break loose 🤣. We have four dogs…. And squirrel chasing is their favorite hobby 😁
