The lighting is nice, especially at night when you really need it.
The lights fade down gradually so it looks great when you close the trunk and they slowly dim.
I prefer the GM hard-wired hookups over aftermarket installs, a turn-key rig that is covered under warrantee is the way to go in My opinion.
My 2023 engine accessory package was constrained late 2023 like hundreds of other cars and shipped without the carbon fiber close-out panels but I did get the lights.
I like them, it is a nice touch and does light up the engine bay fairly well without being too bright.
I would always opt for the factory choice if it is available. Even in this case--having the OEM system in there may result in a far superior aftermarket system being available that has a plug & play solution that uses the factory stuff. So rather than trying to shoehorn something in from scratch later, I'd take the tepid factory offering just to have the option of a clean aftermarket install of something later on.
You can order all of the necessary parts and install them yourself, or have a dealer do it. It looks like a pretty straightforward job, but it is going to cost more than the $100 option if you have a dealer do it. I ordered all of the parts, I just need to find a little time to do it.
I also opted to install my own. Wasn't sure how they would hold up but have had these battery operated light for 2yrs now without any issues. Came with a remote and can change colors as well.
How is it that people are fawning over having color-changing lights in their engine bay, but when I ask for factory Ambient Lighting in the interior--somehow I'm a lunatic for even suggesting it.
