I've been burned by counterfeit Amazon oil filters before... That box looks legit (their new global packaging w/current part #), but copying a box/packaging material isn't tough. I'd need to see the filter itself. They're dirt cheap from RockAuto ($3.91), and not that much more at Walmart ($7.28).

If you are concerned about counterfeits, make sure that the item is "sold & shipped" by Amazon, instead of a third-party seller
I would go to the dealer. Not much difference in price, but peace of mind on mission critical parts. I have purchased so many supposed stainless steel fasteners that a couple years outside show corrosion. I use this as an example of how many counterfeits are out there.
I got mine from Rock Auto a few weeks ago. Waiting for some cooler weather to do my annual oil and filter change. Mine also has foreign language writing on all sides of the box. I'd say what you got is legit......
It's not so much for the buyer/end user to check the hologram, but for distributors to randomly check to to spot counterfeits as the filters move through the supply chains before they get to the buyer/end user.
I believe I read somewhere that it is too expensive for counterfeiters to tool a hologram.
