Default Reduced Trunk Heat Solution!

This weekend I installed https://www.heatshieldproducts.com/hp-stealth-shield The heat reduction is significant, I measured between 30-40 deg reduction, enough that it is no longer "stupid hot" in the trunk.

I started another thread on this a few weeks ago, go to it and see post #35 for pictures. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...runk-temp.html

Works great, easy install, recommend it if you want to see a difference.

Not trying to bust anyone's chops here, but when one says they got a 30 to 40 degree reduction and another says they got a 25 to 30 degree reduction what that says to me is they did not actually measure the amount of reduction they got or they would have specified it with an exact number. Kracka is the only one that I have seen that has specified before and after results and they don't come anywhere near the results suggested in this post.

30 degrees is a big drop. I used a product called Blockit based on a YouTube video I saw. Made no difference. Compared trunks with another HTC after an hour drive together and they felt exactly the same. Seems like it was around $130 or so. How much was the product you used?

I got good luck layering the back panel with two different foils, the first one is a thick three-quarter inch foam silver insulation, the outer layer is a gold thinner surface. Both lowered my rear trunk 25 to 30°.

$164 on Amazon.
Amazon Amazon
Called Heat Shield, they said they receive many calls about C8 trunk heat, he knew exactly what I needed. He said if I can get to the top of the exhaust to wrap it with their exhaust shield fabric. After the heat shield I installed, nothing else is needed.

I was about to say the same. It's tough to get real A/B results: ambient temp., duration and engine load, and what are you measuring? Surface temp of the front panel, or temp of a sample baggage article located in a specific location? IMO a 5 degree drop in luggage articles would be significant.

Again, not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but I'd rather do that than give someone unrealistic expectations.

Have a good one,
Mike

What is the impact on the trunk space after you install this?

Zero impact. I was asked in another thread, but to answer the question here as well, the total weight added was less than 1 pound (14 ounces to be exact).

Thank you, great post on #35. Fronk gets warm too from the radiators. Are you planning to do the front and post pics? Sure appreciate the advice the bottom is where the insulation is needed.

This is a sports car. Not a place to put gold insulation. When have you seen a Lambo, Ferrari, R8, Porsche, etc with that type of insulation. Our Vette's were not meant to have insulation like the gold etc. They are sports cars meant to enjoy with speed and have fun. Accept the fact you have to put the ice cream and milk in the frunk; the crackers and canned goods in the back if you are shopping. If not shopping the beach chairs in the back and the beach cooler in the frunk.

Not planning to do the frunk, had not noticed any abnormal heat.

Well, thank God you've arrived to tell us all how we should be using our own vehicles! <pshew> I was about to waste a few dollars and improve the utility of my car, but now that you've stepped in to show us the error of our ways, I can go back to limiting what I put in my trunk/frunk. And wow, I almost did something different than Lamborghini, Porsche, etc... talk about egg on MY face!

Keep up the good work!

“ you should not use gold insulation on a Corvette! “

Well now I’ve read it all…when I didn’t think this forum could get any more weird…
