My husband suggested this but I didn't want him to have to attach something to the car for the rare occasion when it's needed. That looks pretty slick, though, thanks for sharing.
Easiest thing to do is go to your local Kohls/Target/JCpenney etc., buy a few bags and try them out in the compartments, whichever ones fit you keep and you return the rest.
Thank you so much for the link! And so many others here who have weighed in with their suggestions. Unfortunately, I'm specifically looking for check in luggage, not carry on. I need something to get through 2-4 weeks with family over the holidays.
Might want to rethink it a bit. I've been traveling internationally with just a carry on bag for decades... it does mean you'll have to take time to wash clothes about mid-trip..... I've met some of the most fascinating people in laundromats - and cafes and bars while waiting for my clothes to be done - scattered around the globe. Others here have told you what will fit and what won't -- just the nature of the _lovely_ beast.
Majority of people overpack by a massive amount. The best strategy is to find the bags that fit in the car and then search for some videos on how to pack for an extended stay. You just have to get out of the mindset that you need to wear a completely different outfit every day of the week for however long you are travelling away from home. I also agree that you need to plan on doing wash, either yourself or paying someone else to do it for you.

I really appreciate everyone weighing in with suggestions, but I disagree with your assumption that I pack too much. I've traveled to over 25 countries and I understand how to pack for vacation while planning to do laundry on the road. But it's pretty unimaginative to say that no one can ever need a check in bag. Sometimes I have to go home to help my family for a month or more. In that case, I'd like to bring my tennis racket, tennis shoes, running shoes, cycling shoes and other items to allow me to pay attention to my health while away from my home. Perhaps you could trust that I asked about checked luggage because it's important to me. Nonetheless, I've come to accept there is no check in size luggage that will fit in the trunk of this car.
It's tooo small. My wife likes to travel with "kitchen sink". We used to carry our own cofee pot, a full 12 cup brewer. Now, we downsized to a manual dripper. I told my wife she needs to throw away and buy new clothes as we travel. LOL.

What you seemingly do not understand is that there is insufficient room for a "standard" checked bag - which translates to _anything_ over carry on size. I lament the loss of the C7-sized trunk: two cases of wine, Yeti cooler, bags, and miscellaneous "stuff." To quote the trite saying, "It is what it is."

I concur with this 100%
Best way to travel is with carry on but then again sometimes its not possible to just take a carry on.

Remined of my many years of travel where in the US where was never an issue getting laundry back in a day. On an expense account no issue. That was until we sold our business to a Swedish company in 1990 and I stayed for 10 years. I was in a 2 week seminar in Sweden and thought no issue I'll just have cloths cleaned a few times. Turned out socks cost what would be equivalent to $8/pair today. Like buying new! The CEO was a great guy, traveled often to their many country companies. I mentioned to him and he said you Americans are spoiled. Here the hotels send cleaning out and it is very expensive in additions to their profit. I just bring Woolite and wash my Nylon socks and shorts in the bathroom sink! Tried for my many trips to Sweden. Hated the Nylon shorts.
These are airline crewmember Travel Pro wheeled bags. Approx 21x14x10. I don't think you could possibly get more into the trunk than these bags allow. I see them on sale at various outlets.... Macy's, Nordstrom Rack, etc.
