I have a 23 c8 with 6k miles. Planning to do the filter service at 7k. I called the dealer and they said it was used at 3800 miles. Chevrolet.com for my vin# says the first service expires 10/25/24. Seems like that means it was never used and the dealership may not be correct. What to do? GM customer service says they cannot tell me whether the first free service has been used.

Is this a used car? If so, perhaps the original owner did use the free service early as I did with ~3000 miles. Knew I would not have 7000 by end year two and foolish to have it changed year 2 with 6,000 miles and do it again a few months later. I had the DCT filter changed again year 3 with ~8000 miles along with ALL DCT fluid changed AS REQIRED for all year C8s, on my dime.

Will do that again for my E-Ray when the OLM says1st years' service in required in January 2025. For me getting rid of the initial break-in debris is far more important for the DCT than changing engine oil early.

If you bought new you would know what was done, would you not? Everything done where GM paid I had to sign and dealer gave me a no charge Invoice.

PS:I know what is done as I watch! Been retired since 2000 (well semi, still have a part time internet business) and far better to watch from outside the open service door than sitting in a waiting area!

Ask the dealer for a vehicle service report.

exactly. If you are original owner try a different dealer or ask that dealer to check again. If used yes maybe the other owner did it early for some reason.

This would hopefully clear things up. If done, the servicing dealer surely would have documented the service for warranty reimbursement purposes.
