Yep, I did foolish things where driving at 17 and 18. By 19 realized getting a good job and responsibility were things only I could manage. I did. Lucky for the 1st 2 years to not have an accident with another car. These last 64 years I have maintained that record by knowing where all cars are around me at all times, minimizing taking chances when other cars are near- AND Luck!
FWIW, in my 2024 Z51 with MSRC it only takes two seconds to enter launch mode. Press the Z mode button twice (to get into PTM) and you're good to go. All that's left is to depress the brake, depress the gas, then let go of the brake.
I know the 2023 Z51s have that too. We did that at Ron Fellows when I was there this past April. I would suggest going to Ron Fellows if you bought your C8 new and you will learn all the modes and how to drive these cars.
After thinking about your thread a bit more I have this to say. Please do not spoil it for us and make our insurance rates go up. It doesn't take many in the video posted above to do just that!
The video above is a perfect example of why its not a good idea. The loss of control - yeah thats part of it. But I saw a pedestrian and a real little kid on a bicycle cross the street, then another bicyclist. And residential driveways entering the "dragstrip". The entire course is subject to unsuspecting folks entering the road walking, driving, and cycling. And the vegetation can hide animals that will lunge into the road (at least is does where I live). Its just incredibly dangerous - even for excellent drivers.
The C8 will exceed 60 in less than 3 seconds, and in the non-Z will still be in 2nd gear - so only a single shift (I notice someone asked about manual mode). The Z requires shift to third to push it over 60. Either way, in three seconds, on that road, the car is a deadly missile.
I'm at a red light and I get the red-light challenge, what performance tactics do most use? Simply which to your preset Z-Mode and floor it, paddle shift or let the transmission auto shift?
Setting up launch mode takes too long, not a practical option!
Certainly, only if it's safe and no one else is on the road.
Thanks
The ONLY safe place is the Track, where you won't injure or kill others by breaking the law.

Yeah.....sure you do...... Until you kill someone doing that.
I have a 2023 and would maybe do a snap take off not to exceed the posted speed limit, or by much ....

Street racing in any condition is just plain dumb. Was going to say stupid but wanted to be nice. Too much can go wrong. I know in Georgia they impound your car.
I thought this thread was going to be about cash cab. Sigh.
Just remember this simple tip it applies to the safety squad replies here too. At a red light not everyone wants to race but it's better to be safe than be a loser.

You ultimately make the choice on what course of action is taken, but street racing, even if just for a short burst, is full of opportunities for something to go terribly wrong. Taking it to the track is allowing for a controlled environment and minimizes the risk of innocent people getting hurt or even worse, killed.
It only takes a moment to really screw up your life and that of someone else.
Why even entertain some idiot who wants to street race. There are tracks and drag strips to do that. Everyone thinks not going to happen to me and the next thing that happens is a crash or worse. No need to become a statistic.
I see your point, but the reality is that tracks all over the nation are closing (the venerable Palm Beach drag strip here in FL is one of the latest to shut down, sadly). Plus, a lot of people never did have a track or drag strip within practical driving distance. I'm not advocating street racing, but as long as there is testosterone, there will be street racing.
