Did the Heatshield Products on the trunk today. Not the most economical solution at $165, but the results are definitely encouraging.

The test was a 30 minute spirited run in Z mode through the local hills followed by a 45 minute heat soak in the garage. Both runs were about 2 hours apart and in both cases the fans were running after shutdown (Z51). Temperature was taken with a Fluke IR meter in the center of the trunk where the exhaust sits (Borla ATAK). Net result was a 20F decrease. Product is 1/8” thick, very workable and applied with 3M tack spray on both the back of the carpet and the Heatshield Product matting.

I did exactly the same a few months ago, I experience a 30 to 35° decrease. I thought as well worth every penny.

I don't see the point, in my case anyway. I don't shop for ice cream or food in my C8. I don't put anything back there that can't take 105 degrees. I guess if you use the car as a daily driver or grocery getter it makes sense. If it would take the road noise out of the passenger compartment I'd be all for it.

I am with WaterLine. Don't care. I use it for chairs, jackets......
But it is amazing how some are willing to improve the area. Good effort! Maybe GM will improve on you guys findings.

Very good SoCal-C8 and others. You guys do make a good thing even better.

I wonder if there is a difference between the coupe and the HTC. I don't seem to have a heat issue with my HTC. My golf clubs are always in the trunk and it usually takes 30 minutes to get to the club. I keep my water and power bars in there and no issues with heat. I have the rubber floor mat in too. Just curious.
