I just got this notice yesterday and made an appointment today for the update. Even though I have done a couple OTAs, I never had a problem with the battery draining.
When I got to the dealership they said there were TWO outstanding recalls on my '24-- one for the Serial Gateway Module update and another for a Body Control Module (BCM) update. I told the service advisor that I never got a notice about a BCM update, and he said it just got released from GM. He said I'd probably get a notice about the BCM update shortly.
After an hour and a half, one latte and one donut later, they had done both updates. The car started like normal with no CELs and no problems. I'm glad I got these two updates completed just in case.
I didn’t know about the BCM update either until I made my appt for today. They finished the BCM issue, but can’t get my car to connect to GM for the Gateway issue…I’m leaving it with them overnight now, but said I may need to bring it back next week…

I’m surprised they connected to GM for the BCM update but not the other one. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
Just picked up my C8…she’s a sick girl now…not only would she not connect to get the re-program, but now the infotainment system is bricked. NOTHING on the touchscreen works now…she goes back Mon…

Got my infotainment systems working again with a soft reset…held down end call button on steering wheel for about 20 secs until screen went blank and then restarted…
I needed to get the DIC cluster replaced on my '23 as it flickered for a minute or so whenever I started the C8 in temps below 60*. So they did the update while my C8 was there. No issues. By the way, Rick Hendrick Chevy-Buick service dept in Short Pump Va t is absolutely Amazing. They ordered the new DIC cluster to receive overnight and replaced it with out as much a finger smudge anywhere on my C8. They even have a parking deck to store the cars awaiting service to keep out of the weather. I highly recommend them, at least the Short Pump Va location.
I think I am about to be very unhappy. Dropped my 2023 SR HTC off at the local dealer for a regular oil change and air filter change. 13.5k miles on it and not tracked or driven hard at all. Was running perfectly when I dropped it off and I have never had any issues with it besides not understanding how something worked and one blip of the infotainment system about a year ago.
About an hour ago, the MyChevrolet app started displaying a message about a transmission error and that my car needs service. Nobody answers the phone or has called me back from the dealer, even though I left a voicemail immediately after I noticed the app warning. I'm trying to be calm about it but inside I'm ready to rage. The mmiles have not changed since I dropped it off, in the app at least.
When I dropped the car off, the service tech reminded me of the serial gateway recall, which I had not done yet. I told him if it was fast and easy to do it now otherwise I'd prefer they do it another time as I need the car this week and I was concerned something would go wrong. Looks like I was right. I haven't got confirmation yet, outside of the app.I am also guessing that they do not have the latitude to let the car leave without performing the recall, although the tech did seem to indicate that wasn't a problem.
How worried should I be? I'm not holding my breath on the service department being communicative. This is the first time I have used this dealership. Normally I go to Les Stanford but that was a little too far away this time to make it work logistically. I take excellent care of my vehicles but I am not super mechanically inclined.I cannot get to the dealership until after 5 pm but I am starting to really get a bad feeling here.

Don’t panic, when they were trying to do the reprogram on mine, I got stuff in the App too. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get my car to communicate with GM and they have it now to try again and service writer said it may take up to a week for GM to get back to them..,not thrilled about that…

That's exactly what happened tpo em too. The car seems ok but nobody seems to be able to explain why the app thinks it isn't. Freaked me out but it all seems ok.

During an update, a number of the modules may not be able to talk to each other. As far as the individual modules are concerned, everything is breaking around them, so they throw codes. Once conversations are back to normal between modules, the codes will go away.
I had this update done in Mid May, while having oil changed (24 Z51 Coupe). On 5/30/2025 while driving away from a stop sign, my car "jerked" like a missed shift, the dash said I had zero oil pressure, then went black. Instantly stopped, put car in park, and turned off. Every thing turnoff, had to use emergency door release to get out. While waiting for tow truck. things started to come back to life. I tried to start the engine cranked but would not fire (15+ pounds oil pressure on starter). Eventually the tow truck showed up and I tried one last time, and car started right up, held oil pressure, drove on rollon flat bed and took to dealer. They download the DTC log, over 30 came up, all at same time, nearly every system had an alarm. On arrival at dealer, only "active" alarm was have transmission service. Good dealer experience, they eventually "found serial data gateway module internally failing" which makes sense given all the communication errors. As far as I know, never been offered or accepted a OTA update. Would be interesting to know cause and effect. Very disconcerting situation, but other than inconvenience, all taken care of and dealer stayed ontop of it till they figured it out. So far so good.
