I prefer Jack Pucks meeting GM specs (2 1/2" max diameter) and I like 1"inch high. Contrary to some comments, Techs buy their own tools. Doubt many buy jack pads for Vettes! Yep the dealer "May" have them and the Tech can go to the parts department (where most keep special tools) and check them out and bring them back, like other "special tools." Doubt many do that as can't make commission going back and forth!

I have a great C8 Trained Tech. Only one who does everything, oil changes, warranty issues etc on my Vette. He did NOT have jack pads. He knows mine are in my tool bag in the Frunk, as is my wheel lock key. Always uses them. In fact when removing the rear aluminum Aero Panel/Shear Plate it allowed him to reach the 4 of ~30 bolts that are close to the oval lift slot.

Funny, Chuck the Tech where Conti is a salesman said in a video out changing the DCT filer they had to jack the car several times as the large jack pads on their lift arm hoist blocked some of the 4 bolts!

Also note, Chuck is a skilled Tech and he still reaches under the car to locate his jack arm pads! Try yourself, see if you can see the oval lift slot without putting your head on the ground. Techs are probably not going to put their head on a shop floor to see those flat lift pads! When I use mine, I can "feel" to get the top of the Jack Pad go in the oval slot. It's your Vette bring your own pads!

Yep have several sets of jack pads, some aluminum. But use these that were sold by "Reverse Logic" when they wee in business.

They are now sold by Steelman on Amazon who bought the Reverse Logic business or some of the products There are cheaper ones but these work great.

I use the red ones in the picture in post #14. They work very well when the mechanics bother to look for them, be aware though not all of them do. It is damn frustrating to have a broken rocker panel just because some clown wouldn't take the time to properly line up the jack on the puck before lifting the car.

Is the slot that the Jack pads attach the same slot that would be used if loading on a rollback for transport?

Found the answer in post 18….

Newbie question - Do you use Loctite thread sealer for the aluminum jack pads? If yes, do you prefer the Blue 242 (removable), or the red 271 (permanent)?
By my logic )(which might me flawed), the Blue 242 is better, because the removal of the red Loctite apparently requires applying a heat to the bolt to soften the connection lock.

Thank you.

I used the blue on mine per the instructions on install. No issues after 15 months they are all still on the car.

Default Pucks

I don’t use loctite on mine and they have been in place for 12 years…

^^^^^
There is a reason for lock washers and loctite. Just suppose the bolts on one of those pucks got loose over the years and the puck fell out while you were cruising down the highway. And the puck bounced into the windshield of the car behind you. All you would know is you lost a puck. The person behind you might be dead.

Since this thread was re-activitated, I thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth. I did this today and I'm not an auto mechanic, but did the install in less than 30 minutes. I purchased these pucks from Amazon for $27

.

I also watched this video and purchased one of those 90 degree drill attachments for $15. Worked like a charm.
