Serial module recall
I received a notice informing me of a required software update to the serial gateway module. Has anyone heard of this and is it necessary?

If you're one of the unlucky that has their battery drained because of a failed OTA update (due to the Gateway remaining open), then yes, I'd consider it a necessary.

They don't tear the dash apart for a software update... not yet, anyway. 
For me, the amazing thing is that it's taken GM so long to address, we hope adequately, this issue with OTA updates.
