Default Navigation Connected Services

My 22 2LT came equipped with nav and PDR. I don’t use the nav often, but use the pdr on every drive. Today I selected the nav function on the Home Screen, but instead of the map opening up there was a prompt for “connected services”. WTF! I have no idea what the connected services are, but I am not interested in letting GM make money off me.I just can’t believe they hijacked my nav!

Has anyone else had this happen? I closed the map a few times and it kept asking me to register for the connected services. I saw no way to bypass the request to register for connected services. I was so mad I just parked the car and gave up. I’ll look into it a little further tomorrow.

I went to look at my map and it told me my subscription had expired. Since when do you need to have a subscription to something just to look at the map. My other cars the data subscriptions have all expired but the map function still works just fine. Are they ripping us off?

Can't answer without knowing the model year of you car.

I got this a while back, and after I cancelled out of it a couple of times it stopped nagging me. Connected services lets you get real time traffic info, and I think weather info, but it's not needed for basic nav. GM is trying to upsell you, but you don't have to buy.

The OP said he has a 2022. jstkrsn is not the OP and did not say what year he has. But his profile shows he has a 2023.

So, a subscription is not required for him to use his nav function.

These are the screens I was talking about:

Since the nav did not work without acknowledging this I accepted the Telenav privacy statement. I went online and read their privacy and it was similar to what we know about Onstar monitoring as discussed here:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...g-history.html
They collect driving information and maintain privacy in accordance with state laws. I did not go any further and investigate whether I could dis-enroll from their program. I am so tired of GM's BS selling our information. It still seems the best way to deal with these issues is to disconnect the car from Onstar and the outside world, but my recollection is that nobody has had any success in his endeavor.

Unless you use android auto or Carplay with your own data plan the navigation with traffic and real time updates will cost you as they will not provide a free data plan forever.

No difference between connected service and not on my 23. No traffic update ….absolutely nothing.
And lately it prompts me to sign in every time I start it. POS!!!!!
