Was that before or after you purchased an insurance policy? My guess is they will tell you it is irreparable before you buy the policy and that they will figure out a way to repair it after you buy the policy.

Hmm, he has no idea what he's talking about! It's the sidewall construction that defines a Run Flat. A repaired tire, assume it was not driven on at zero pressure does not harm or degrade from the sidewall structural strength. Michelin (I assume most tire manufacturers) recommends a Plug/Patch repair NOT a plug from the outside.

SIDEBAR
BTW, my preference is usually for a tire repair NOT new tire. Particularly in the Rear as like both to have about the same mileage. Recall on my 2020 C8 the nail was close to where it was reparable, but store manager said no it will need a new one! That store was NOT the insurer, it's the total company program (I asked!) It's privately owned company, now by the founder's family. They have ~1,100 stored in 38 states. Still family-owned business, that is doing just fine!

HISTORY: Bruce Thomas Halle (May 27, 1930 – January 4, 2018) was an American businessman, and the founder and chairman of Discount Tire. He was the wealthiest person in Arizona, with an estimated net worth of $5.2 billion at the time of his death.

Guy is an idiot for certain. Additionally they are a Michelin distributor.

This particular store doesn’t sell tire warranties as they don’t know what they are. I ran my original tires to 18,000 miles and replaced them.
